A union of independent countries?

I got an idea. The thing is, if it is put in use then it will be better for us. I was thinking of an union, where every country of the union will be independent. Only thing is in war, in economic slow down, natural disaster and foreign invation by any means, the countries under the union must support each other. Now we are seeing Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Maldives, all are part of south asia. This union will unite these countries, lets say, cricket, only one team will be build players from each of these countries. Union flag and anthem will be same, just like US. The union will stand on Shariah law or democracy, whatever the mass population will want. The problems we see everyday, it will go away insh allah if only we unite with each other. About a week ago, Indian navy were trying to enter Maldives that means they have their eye fixed on that country. If we really unite all these problems will go away. The union will live by finance from each coutry, like canadian provinces and a person who will be the the top most figure selected by each country' under the union. Military will be such that members will be allowed to learn and protect where evern they or their superion wants them to do their duty. Every country will have to have equal status.

It will solve a lot of mejor problems. This thought of mine is hypothetical. If we just try, we will get insh allah allah's blessing and satisfaction.

Very unlikely. Many countries cannot even find unity within their border, let alone join a union of many different people. But we can always try if there are enough supports. Lets hear what the others say.

The three countries have different interest and problems whether it be economic, social, or political. Plus the disaster of the European Union is still there so if one of the country go down it will affect the other in the pact because then they will have to bail that country out. Just look at Greece and the trouble it has caused to the European countries, even the British who don't rely on the Euro are feeling the heat.

BTW the Afghans look doen upon the Pakistanis (mostly Punjabis) as inferior and the Pakistanis (almost all) looked upon the Bengalis as inferior. Now the Maldivians think of themselves as pseudo-Arabs and look down upon all South Asians....Good luck with your union...

Religion sometimes complicate things, people have different views and different ways of thinking. Plus pulling religion in to politics and diplomacy can sometimes strain the relationship. Doesn't matter how long religion have survived. Look at Iran and Saudi Arabia they are both Muslim countries yet they have different views and they don't really go hand in hand.

The only period the Muslims were united was when Muhammed was alive. As soon as he was dead the political in-fighting started and has been so ever since...care to remember how two sects Shia and Sunni came into being ?

Well...you see islam is a way of life. It has everything (We believe) and every information we need. In Bangladesh suppose, there are different types of muslims. Pakistan is ruled by Shia ( for ex Benazir Bhutto was shia) even though the country is sunni. the 1000 years muslims survived together, it is because of muslims followed islam.

1st it was arabs who ruled over all muslims. then came ottoman empire, safabid empire and mughal empire. they had, except shia, as far I know, same khalifa, in the later case I think it was in Istanbul.

We already have an existing forum for that - the OIC; though it needs some serious beefing up to do - devolve some of that to South Asia if you must, make a security apparatus out of it, increase economic interdependence with each other and have a couple of joint welfare ventures.

Other than that, as much as I would want to see it otherwise, I'm not sure if a Union of the likes of what you're proposing can happen. Ethnicity and Linguistics based nationalism is still very strongly rooted in our societies plus we (the Muslims) haven't really strong traditions of learning and liberalism in our midst as they were in ages past (the good instances) so we could very easily f**k it all up.
