What's so surprising in this

All those shops have largely been closed. Also, those weapons are not used for combat and rather used for personal protection. They don't use high quality materials , that's why those weapons are prone to jamming and misfires. Terrorists usually prefer Chinese or Russian made weapons. Even the Indian spies in Afghanistan that provided weapons to Terrorist TTP's were all Russian Made.

There were AK-47 reported in the news but I think they were next to being nil from the pics it is clear. We on the second note this is not meant for remote location terrorism of Waziristan and Balochistan but rather this shipment was meant for Urban terrorism of Karachi the threat has been issued for MQM-London activity. that is what my assessment is. It could be a simple smuggling case trying to avoid gun tax as info is not available.

Most probably it was for the civil arms market or the karachi gang war.I am 100% sure it was not for any banned terror outfit like taliban etc.
