There was absolutely no threat to the life of the captured indian pilot. Period.

Pakistan military is a very well trained and professional force and knowshow to treat POW's and how useful they are for propaganda purposes.

This is a bullshit story crafted either by the indian pilot himself, who exaggerated the events to show to the indian nation how brave and big a hero he is and deserves some kind of medal, or was not well trained about the possible risks and threats of being shot down over enemy territory. He was probably got frightened by the light thrashing delivered to humiliate / frighten him, and thought people were trying to kill him. How long does it take for bunch of angry Pakistani soldiers to kill a dhan pan (90 pounds) indian pilot? what was he expecting after being shot down and captured by the very people he was bombarding a few minutes earlier? a red carpet welcome?

OR this may be a defamation story crafted by indian military to discredit and defame Pakistan? I don't even understand how and why would a PAF serving pilot, posted GOD knows where, would fly/drive/teleport to the border region where the jet was shot down, search for the pilot and save him from angry mob, which during all that time was GOD knows doing what to be not able to break a single bone of that pilot, despite all their attempts to kill him. If I ever find those "angry" soldiers who can't kill a person with such a health, under 30 seconds, I'll fire them all in an instant.

People, don't take such stories apparently showing one "good" aspect but hiding tons of "poisonous" propaganda in the message. Think critically, learn to read between the lines and challenge every thing that does not make sense.

Yes everything against Pakistan is a BS story, i don't understand where you guys get the audacity to call everyone who says that same thing about Pakistan a BStr. Hmm guess you guys are living in a parallel universe where Pakistan is the only right party!

Get out your shell and introspect a bit, the whole world thinks the same of Pakistan, "not to be trusted"... and that stems to all GOV organisations within Pak esp.. ARMY AIR FORCE and NAVY

This is either an outright lie by the indian pilot or false propaganda by indian military. No one was going to kill that captured indian pilot, Pakistani ground forces are well trained professionals not a mob. Either the indian pilot couldn't take the light thrashing meant to frighten/humiliate him or he was expecting some red carpet reception from the people he was bombing a few minutes earlier.

There were lies and lies during Kargil war made by your army,

1) Pakistan army was not there in Indian soil, but it was. Musharraf himself acknowledged that.
2) You did not take mortal remains of your soldiers which were buried near LoC on Indian side.

above all few years back during a skirmish Pakistan army beheaded an Indian soldier and took his head as trophy!

its obvious you have not been in the rage of war, training in humanization goes out of the window when you see your dead friends. Airforce personal obviously don't see the bodies that their actions result in and surely have more humanity left in them.

Captain Saurabh Kalia however has a different story to tell.

After his team was captured alive by the Paistan Army, he and his team were tortured to death and then returned to India.

Post mortum showed that the pakistanis had,

- burn their body with cigarettes,

- piercing the ear-drums with hot rods,

- puncturing eyes before removing them,

- breaking most of their teeth and bones,

-fracturing their skulls, cutting the lips, chipping of nose,

- chopping off limbs and private organs of the soldiers,

- and finally shooting them dead, as evidenced by bullet wounds to the temple.

The post-mortem also confirmed the injuries were inflicted ante-mortem (before death). So let us not go overboard in thanking them just yet.

Saurabh Kalia when returned, had many vital organs removed, and the post mortem report clearly shows the sign of torture, burning, shock, and injuries in many parts of his body. All the bodies of the IA, recieved from the pakistan had gunshot sign, showing they were shot from the close contact range.

this is not an isolated case. the forced down Indian pilots of a helicopter in Northern area were also treated well and returned much swiftly along with the helicopter.

I didnt know if our fighter pilots made the part of ground reaction teams that retrieve the downed enemy pilots
but now I know better .. thanks to Indian media we know that there will always be a PAF pilot next to our Rangers and regular troops to keep them from misbehaving and treat the captured IAF pilots with due respect.

An Indian newspaper report has gone viral on the social media, so I thought I must correct a few errors.
It seems India Times has tried to spice it up. Firstly, I was nowhere at the crash site as I was working at the Air Headquarters, Chaklala, while F/L Nachiketa bailed out near Kargil so there is no question of my saving him from torture by Pak soldiers (which in itself is a bit of nonsense).
Secondly, I did not interrogate him in 'my room'; rather he was in custody at an Army location where I met him.
Thirdly, I never gave an interview to India Times, and whatever has been attributed to me is what Nachiketa told the newspaper in some interview. Whatever has been written about our meeting is, however, correct.

As for my dealing with the captive, I felt he was helpless and was under custody, so he deserved some dignity. I did not want to disgrace him, as he was an officer junior to me in rank, and belonged to the fighter pilot fraternity. I did what chivalry demands, in accordance with the Geneva Conventions that the Pakistan Armed Forces strictly abide by.
The interrogation brought out the desired results, as the IAF officer went on answering my queries as if he was sitting in a crew room gossiping with a fellow pilot.
I am thankful that Nachiketa has acknowledged the decent treatment meted to him (including some 'Hindu-friendly' vegetable patties I arranged for him over a cup of tea.)

PS: Unfortunately, YouTube videos and Indian press is full of articles about this guy having been tortured. I wish they can bring themselves to mention that the then DCAS-Ops Air Mshl Zahid Anis and Lt Gen Tahir Ali had cakes sent for him on his 27th birthday, which fell during his captivity.//

Your article was in 2011 which is peace time. There was a chopper shot down during the Kargil war. Hence the question.
