What's new

A new Huawei phone has defeated US chip sanctions against China

I will keep quiet until Huawei shows their mojo. Until then feel free to hope China will fail. When we promise something, China normally delivers.

China Already starting to fall. Wonder what you'll say when China is already on the dirt.

We have been falling since 1998,remember? We made our own 7nm EDA, designed our own 7nm photoresists and now our own 7nm DUV. People are saying it's fabbed in a ASML DUV but rumors are flying that it was fabbed by the SSA800 by SMEE. Well if Huawei can unveil they must have been prepared. Until then feel free to hope we fail, we just continue and work harder and when we fail, we try again. Before the WS15, nobody believed we Chinese could make a world class engine.

Love that even you are not sure how Huawei got their 7nm chip. Also turns out Huawei used foreign parts to make new phone. So why are you even proud again? Also don't forget to thank South Korea too while you at it.

High end lithography machines. That’s actually even bigger deal.
already at construction. Turns out building an EUV machine the size of a football stadium nullify lots of the tech difficulties

ASML must miniaturize their machines in order to ship them to oversea customers in east Asia and north America, China has no such problem. At least for now no one see the need to compete with ASML for those export orders. So the Qinghua team is getting innovative: instead of harder to make transportable machines, why not just build an EUV plant

ASML is actually looking at FEL-EUV as a possible light source for the next Gen Hyper NA lithography machine.

Light source is one challenge, second will be optics and third will be precise mechanical system.

Ppl actually dissected the phone and found only memory chips are made by SK but the factory is in China. The reason for using SK chips is because our new LPDDR5 line is not in volume production. Nobody knows how we made the 7nm chip but it is not imported that's for sure since we are under sanctions. We unlike India is at the league to challenge US, if India faced the same situation, what can you do? You don't even produx3 the phone shell. Lololol

Actually this makes alot of sense. Chinese laser and optical tech is quite advanced, the problem is miniaturisation of components, we can afford to sacrifice space using larger components.

Well, well. Turns out the Chinese is getting new sanction for stealing US technology.

US representative Mike Gallagher, chair of the US House of Representatives committee on China, called on the US Commerce Department on Wednesday to end all technology exports to Huawei and SMIC, according to Reuters.

Gallagher was quoted as saying SMIC may have violated US sanctions, as this chip likely could not be produced without US technology.

“The time has come to end all US technology exports to both Huawei and SMIC to make clear any firm that flouts US law and undermines our national security will be cut off from our technology,” he said.

Shares in SMIC, which stands for Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, sank 8.3% in Shanghai and 7.6% in Hong Kong on Thursday. Hua Hong Semiconductor, China’s second largest chip foundry, tumbled 5.8%.
Yeah, the world owes everything to you Yankees, no doubt.

China is also under sanctioned from buying Sk memory cards too. That's why everybody is surprised by this. And why new sanction is about to be placed. If China used smuggled Sk chips it's not that hard to imagine that China will do the same to the rest.

SK hynix has launched a formal investigation into how the company’s LPDDR5 and NAND flash got into the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. The Korean chipmaker reiterated that it hasn’t sold any of its products to Huawei since the U.S. blacklisted Huawei in 2020. It wasn’t a significant hit to SK hynix since Huawei only represented approximately 10% of the chipmaker’s sales.

“SK hynix no longer does business with Huawei since the introduction of the U.S. restrictions against the company and with regard to the issue we started an investigation to find out more details,” an SK hynix representative told Bloomberg. The spokesperson added, “SK hynix is strictly abiding by the U.S. government’s export restrictions.”

China don't even made the phone you even questioned it yourself that Huawei have the capability.

I won't make fun of india seeing that they will produce Iphone in the future. And you will be forced to buy made in india. Also India are not moron like China. The moral to the Huawei Saga is don't breakUS sanction just to sell telcom tech to Iran & the Norks.

The Indian is not the one getting caught for selling sanctioned good to Iran. So what does that make the chinese IQ then?
US can sanction any country it wants for no good reason as we all know, lol.

I don't know but selling sensitive techs with US made parts to tinpot dictators that throw gay people off the roof and threaten other countries with nukes is as good as any reason to sanction someone.

Try looking things from the US perspective for once why don't you. China is not the only country on the planet.

Huawei had been sanctioned since 2019 mate, keep sanctioning, China will still produce those phones. If we don't use Hynix, we will use CXMT or YMTC.

Look mat3, you are just assembling phones, same aa Vietnam. Why do you have a slave mentality? Before this when we defied US and bought Iranian oil, you guys were shivering. But at least you stuck with Russia. 90% of Iphones are still. Made In China, i am not proud of it at all.

Huawei is sanctioned because they sell techs to Iran & the Norks. Not to mention that it's government owned & supported. Making it extremely sus.

Yet you use Hynix?... Also didn't you said chose Hynix because there's nothing better. Also not to mention the extra hoops & cost for the chinese to acquire it makes me question your logic.

You're the one living in a dictatorship mate. Please look into a mirror before accusing someone for being a slave. At least I can criticize my government.

Your assembled your phone using stolen techs and stolen goods, You have nothing to be proud of. If even you can't tell how Huawei source their parts & techs how do you even know it even came from then?

Say 'Free West Papua' in front of your government then lmao

You're literally coping and trying to grasp at straws to find a reason why, no matter how dumb it sounds.
