Yes, sure military is ONLY for war.

Most of them are National Guard units. There are strict constitutional safeguards about deploying US military units on American soil. Most important thing is that US military does not interfere in domestic poilitics in spite of the fact they prefer and vote for Republican policies and leaders

In the long run the military does have to have its monopoly on business and politics in the country drastically reduced. Other great nations like America, India, China, Israel, Turkey, and so forth have amazing militaries but unlike Pakistan's, they aren't heavily involved in politics nor do they control their states. Our situation is more comparable to Egypt, and we all know what a disaster Egypt is because of its military.
The only good thing about our military establishment is, for the most part, they are pro-Islamic (unlike Egypt's secularist military establishment). This is the real reason the leftist and ethnic nationalist opposition, Nawaz, and secularists like Hoodbhoy are against the Military. As for Fazlur Rahman, his whole politics revolves around the fact that once Imran Khan dissed him. He made politics personal, otherwise he really has no beef with the military establishment and should have been part of the current government as he was part of the previous governments. But Fazlur Rahman only represents a fraction of the right-wing Islamic forces in Pakistan, basically the Madrassah network in NWFP. The Punjab Islamic right-wing is totally on board with the current government and the Military establishment. The Punjab Islamic right-wing is more powerful and more significant than lousy Jamaat-e-Islami and JUI-F. If the deep state/military establishment want to secure themselves they must never, ever, antagonize the Punjab Sunni Islamic right-wing forces.

All are federal US army except the last picture. US Corp of Engineers, 101st Airborne etc. Even by your admission some are US Army which fcuks the thread title. All over the world militaries are involved in peace time in non combat situations. US Corp of Engineers is a massive military command that -

More than 67 percent of the goods consumed by Americans and more than half of the nation's oil imports are processed through deepwater ports maintained by the Corps of Engineers, which maintains more than 12,000 miles (19,000 km) of commercially navigable channels across the U.S.

In both its Civil Works mission and Military Construction program, the Corps of Engineers is responsible for billions of dollars of the nation's infrastructure. For example, USACE maintains direct control of 609 dams, maintains or operates 257 navigation locks, and operates 75 hydroelectric facilities generating 24% of the nation's hydropower and three percent of its total electricity. USACE inspects over 2,000 Federal and non-Federal levees every two years.

Now read this.

  • Owns and operates 609 dams
  • Owns or operates 257 navigation lock chambers at 212 sites
  • Largest owner-operator of hydroelectric plants in the US. Owns and operates 75 plants—24% of U.S. hydropower capacity (3% of the total U.S. electric capacity)[36]
  • Operates and maintains 12,000 miles (19,000 km) of commercial inland navigation channels
  • Maintains 926 coast, Great Lakes, and inland harbors
  • Dredge 255,000,000 cubic yards (195,000,000 m3) annually for construction or maintenance
  • Nation's number one provider of outdoor recreation with more than 368 million visits annually to 4,485 sites at 423 USACE projects (383 major lakes and reservoirs)[37]
  • Total water supply storage capacity of 329,900,000 acre feet (406.9 km3)
Blow my testicles it even owns and operates 609 dams. Is this MILITARY INC?

Read the fcukin thread title. It says "military is only for war". It does not say "military is NOT for domestic politics". You just shifted goalposts because I shot this thread to pieces by showing US Army involved in about everything other than making babies.

  1. General Ayub Khan swapped Shaksgam Valley.
  2. General Yahya Khan lost half of the country in just 17-days.
  3. General Zia-ul-Haq lost Siachin Glacier.
  4. General (convicted traitor) Pervez Musharraf lost Kargil / Waziristan.
Considering the above events in the last 73-years, I am wondering whether Pakistani Army is even capable of fighting a war?
General "Pakistan space agency" is capable. right? its stupid ppl like u and this wanna be expert on all matters hoody fellow who think they are PHDs in all fcukin fields of life... bravo u must feel like superman... but remember not to wet ur bed when sleeping.

US Army Corps of Engineers does all those because they are authorized to do so by the US Congress.

The Pakistani military is making a lot of political decisions. It is not clear who is making the decisions. For example some general made a decision to hide OBL in Abbotabad. There is no clarity to why decisions are being made, what the process is and who is being held accountable for the poor decisions.

We have 91,000 dams in the USA. No one but the public owns the dams.

only against the leadership’s intervention in politics
Are you well acquainted with the intricacies of Pakistani politics? It seems not. There is no real democracy in Pakistani politics even if the military stops intervening. Pakistani politics is quite different and quite savage when compared to the politics of many a Western nations. The politics which revolves around dynastic mainstream parties, corrupt and thuggish electables, loyalty to ones tribe and exploitation of sentiments of the ignorant masses is something which is not mature enough to be left unchecked.

A cursory look at the achievements of military rule (compared to civilian rule) in Pakistan is quite telling. Only Ayub was the leader with a vision. Industrial development and hydro electric projects were considered the backbone of Pakistan's economic base. The country was heading in the right direction when the sentiments of the poor, hungry and ignorant masses were exploited for personal gain by the catching slogan of roti, kapra and makan.

Pakistan's problems are of a different nature. The remedy prescribed(democracy) only indicates incorrect diagnosis. The correct formula is in the model of the Far East; Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea - a benevolent dictatorship.
