One of the men involved in the 2012 Delhi gang rape has sparked outrage after claiming his victim was to blame for her sexual assault.

“A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy,” Mukesh Singh said in an interview from jail, according to The Telegraph.

The gang rape of the 23-year-old woman on a moving bus in New Delhi had shocked the world and prompted protests from women in India seeking protection. But Singh said women who went out at night had only themselves to blame if they attracted the attention of gangs of male molesters.

“You can’t clap with one hand – it takes two hands,” he said, in an interview for a BBCdocumentary.

Not remorseful for his action, Singh shifting blame on the victim herself for the act said, “A decent girl won’t roam around at 9 o’clock at night. A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy. Boy and girl are not equal. Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes. About 20 per cent of girls are good.”

Further, describing the killing as an ‘accident’, Singh said, “When being raped, she shouldn’t fight back. She should just be silent and allow the rape. Then they’d have dropped her off after ‘doing her’, and only hit the boy.”

He elaborated if Jyoti and her male friend who she was going back home with, not resisted the attempt he and his five other gang members would not have beaten her up leading to her death.

Singh, a slum-dweller who was 26 at the time of the attack, was driving the bus when the abduction occurred and denied involvement in the attack itself. However, the court rejected his claims adding there was strong DNA evidence against him and he could have stopped the act.

With his death sentence currently on appeal, Singh said the executions will only further put lives of future rape victims at risk.

“The death penalty will make things even more dangerous for girls,” he says. “Before, they would rape and say, ‘Leave her, she won’t tell anyone.’ Now when they rape, especially the criminal types, they will just kill the girl. Death,” he said.

Any comments from anti death penalty bleeding hearts?????????????????????????????????? Even hanging is too easy a death for him. Electric chair with a dry sponge is the answer

About ExtraOdinary's remark :
Being from the West, I mostly lived in countries that abandoned the death penalty, even some states in the USA.
The reasons for that are humanist in nature but the basic difference for all involved in say rape as reported here is simply that in all those societies, the rapist is always blamed and the victim always defended. Once even defending a rapist gets you open to a beating by normal men, the numbers drop rapidly anywhere and as you good people's reactions show, it would happen in Pakistan or India too over time.
The problem of high rape rates applies to any society where traditions ( kangaroo courts, etc ) still provides a context and rationale for it. I trust that the males themselves, once educated will change their ways.

Of course, I understand any family member for hunting down such people if they ever come to be liberated.
In this case, I admit I wouldn't mind "explaining details" of his actions to this subhuman myself if allowed.
He's still denying his victim's humanity so … why should we care about his?

A nice international solution could be a secluded and guarded island! Just drop all rapists from all nations there and let them had fun trying to play "society" amongst themselves? :sarcastic:

Again, the important thing is our shared outrage, thanks for expressing it!
Have a good day, Tay.

First of all I don't think death penalty is enough for this creature.

BUT
what is said in this quote holds water. The purpose of punishment is to create a fear in the minds of would be culprits. But that fear arises only if the culprits think that they will be caught, justice will be severe and swift and most importantly if they think justice will prevail. Unfortunately in south asia, the British created a police and justice system to harass, manipulate and control the masses not provide them with help, security and justice.Consequently, criminals in south asia are fearless and bold. As such our south asian corrupt and inefficient system might actually make this creatures' predictions true unfortunately.

I wonder had this bus rape taken place in a remote area of India with no media coverage and no nothing would the rapists be caught? this person is behind bars because of media, thousands are roaming freely because media had other important things to cover that day. Unfortunately, its my impression about India, that they are just like Pakistan when it comes to police and justice system and consequently no justice prevails until money is spent, political/ powerful connections are exerted or media takes up the case.

Sad but true reality on the ground which might make his prediction true.

What a twisted logic and mindset the rapist has...

A girl is responsible for raping because boys get attracted to her ..??

What is he recommending? A purdah?
