A Chinese Empire Reborn

The basic thrust of this article. The fact that he works for NYT. The fact that he terms US hegemony "liberal" and the Chinese "hard power". Iraqi's would be to differ !

Yes, the Iraqis (particularly those 1+ million Iraqi civilians who died) certainly experienced some of America's "soft power". If soft power means bombs and bullets and drones and missiles raining down on their families.

Whereas China's interactions with Iraq are definitely all about the bombs and missiles too right? Except that we are selling them to the Iraqi government, not dropping it on their children.

Soft power is just steam given off by hard power. Economic ascendancy over time has a logical sequence of it's own. Soft power is one of the sequences that follow economic power. Military power is another sequence. There is however some 'lag' in the cultivation of military and soft power. But sure as hell once a country establishes economic ascendency they and everything else follows. And so it will be with China.

"soft power"
Enjoying a bite of "shock and awe". 100% American soft power being gifted to Iraq.

And this stirring of the Tibetan, Uighur issues within Chna overlooks massive chasms inside US society. For instance the alienated Black community and the brutal use of law enforcement against them involving regular shootings. The discontent that regularly explodes into riots in US cities along ethnic lines. All is not well in America.

As increasing Chinese economic domination eats into US markets and places pressure on the dollar the internal problems inside USA will magnify. The enormous wealth and state sanction is what keeps the lid on the far right and left liberal/ethnic groups from colliding and descending into chaos. The next few decades should be interesting.

Well all I can say is that a few articles in NYT or WP cannot erase the writing on the wall. They should better read it and act accordingly otherwise the merciless waves of history and time will drag them into the deep abyss of irrelevance and oblivion.

When the menace of poverty will remove the last opaque blanket of waning wealth from the ugliness of society, the embarrassment will be huge and the friends will leave and foes will laugh.

Agreed with your analysis.
Thank you Iqbal bhai

I disagree. US has enormous natural resources and impressive human resource base amplified by hard work ethic. US is going to still matter for a long, long time. What will change is it's shadow will shrink. US will learn to live in reduced space and contain it's arrogance.

USA will not be as important as it was in 2001.

Do you know I really look forward to Chinese ascendancy. More then anything I look forward to massive Chinese shadow on Pakistan. Which of course is natural. Having a hyperpower as neighbour has consequences. The best consequence I hope to see is it will help to hasten secularization of Pakistani society. The fresh cool winds of rationality, reason, economic gravitas blowing down the Karakorum Highway should cleanse the religious profiteering and obscurantism that has infected Pakistan. I hope Pakistan goes the way of Sinkiang Uighur. On the road to economic progress and less religious hocus pocus.

Let's all salute the big red CCP.

New York Times....lol

It's a USA political news. If you want to know the real USA attitude toward other country, just read NYT.

Or perhaps it's represent the real jewish elite leaders attitude toward other countries.

In the mainstream media, Jewish people is always being promoted of being good people, a victim of injustice. But Bible and Koran say different thing about them. I guess, holy books are more accurate.

Dajjal is born and grow up among these the Jewish elites.

You may disagree because we stand at different vantage points and altitudes.
I already saw that happen on Dec 28, 2017 when the world stood up and defeated the sole superpower in UNGA.
A 30 trillion "Empire of Debt" is sinking slowly in the marshy land.
When the carpet of petro-dollar is dragged away from under their feet, it will fall like house of cards.
When I see that a person spends 8 hours on the same job in India, Pakistan or China and get 10 times less than a US citizen putting the same or less effort, it means the system has been rigged artificially through a mega conspiracy and it is going to end soon.
The process has just started so it is slow, but it is accelerating with every passing day.

Ask the Chinese members here about USA. I think you will find them in agreement with "never under estimate your enemy". It is this very prudent thinking that has got them where they are.

America has got a lot of life left in it. It will remain the superpower. But another kid on the block ~ China will surpass it as the "hyperpower".

Yes hopefully China will supersede USA soon.

China will become the world's largest economy, (Or China is already the largest economy in the world).
