A British Documentary on our Victory in The Rann of Kutch 1965

The district of Kutch is like a Peninsula, who so ever takes the KALA DANGAR heights controls the whole Rann of Kutch. The tense situation of the Kutch border bears similarity to the LOC. For the first time Sir Creek Channels and their defenses can be seen in this Indian documentary .Good for some military strategist planning something.

It was a no mans land only patrolled by border police by both sides. The skirmishes started when the Indians violated the truce and started patrolling Pakistan's controlled territory and captured Kanjarkot fort. At the end of the war the border was demarcated with Pakistan Army relinquishing the captured Indian territory to the Indians as per the arbitration court.

I can provide you with Indian sources, saying the contrary.

https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/rann-of-kutch.htm

In the spring of 1965, Pakistani tanks (received from the United States as part of its Military Assistance Program) entered the Rann of Kutch. The memoirs of senior Pakistani officers later revealed that the deployment of this American-supplied armor had two objectives. The first was to entice Indian armor away from northern India, where an attack on Kashmir was planned for later in the year. The second objective was to see how strongly the United States would protest Pakistan's use of tanks it had provided, in clear violation of Pakistan's commitment. The United States did protest, but it was ignored.

The Indians became aware in January 1965 that Pakistani border police were patrolling below the Indian claim line. Pakistani patrolling south of Kanjarkot may have been going on for quite some time without the Indians knowing it. There was little doubt, however, that Pakistani occupation of Kanjarkot would have upset a long-standing status quo. When Indian patrols discovered that Pakistani posts had been established in area claimed by India, they accused Pakistan of aggression in the Rann of Kutch.

After India lodged a protest, it increased its own patrolling activity. In mid-February 1965, Pakistani forces dug themselves in around Kanjarkot, which may have been previously unoccupied, although President Ayub of Pakistan claimed that Pakistan had "long" occupied it. India moved large forces into the disputed territory during the months of January-April 1965, established forward military posts therein and carried out full-scale land, sea and air manoeuvers in its vicinity, thus forcibly demolishing the status quo. Both sides built up the forces available to them in the area, manned strong points, and shifted defense responsibility from border units to the army. The Indian response of occupying other posts near the frontier and, reportedly, building an airstrip nearby brought the latent crisis to a head.

During April 1965, a series of incidents has occurred with both sides blaming the other. The Pakistanis, enjoying a militarily superior position, moved forcefully against Indian outposts near the border fort of Kanjarkot and most recently staged a "preemptive" attack at Biar Bet, deeper within the disputed area. The Indians were mainly on the defensive but, according to Pakistan, had established outposts within undisputed Pakistani territory.

It was only on 08 April 1965 when the Indian forces attacked a Pakistan out-post at Ding in an endeavor to complete a military take over of the territory to present Pakistan with a fait accompli that the Pakistan forces went into action for the first time, and it was on 19 April 1965 after watching India's actions in the Rann of Kutch for three and a half months that Pakistan forces went into the disputed territory for the first time.

i was eager to know about area before War , 1947 situation and what we got after 1968 tribunal , because Indian media say that Pakistan got 910 Sq Km out of 9100 Sq Km . That 910 Sq Km area was with India ???? i m talking about 1947 -1965 , before war . not talking about gains in War . Thanks .

Yes my friend.... this 910 sq km area was with India first which Pakistan snatched militarily.... it was initial weak stance on the part of Lal Bahadur Shastri.... he showed utter weakness that time and agreed to let that area go to Pakistan during negotiations with British acting as a mediator.... it was like Pakistan initiated the war and India was ready to negotiate for peace....

Apart from capturing kutch Pakistan wanted to test it's brand new American weapons against India and it's objective was successful as he got this small territory during the TRIAL of these weapons itself.... India was really surprised.... however this incident took a TRIAL of Indian generals too....they were prepared for a big day....

With this small success Pakistan became even bolder and he opened a gigantic front to attack India from kutch to Kashmir.... under the name of operation Gibraltar Pakistan attacked India.... they were so confident that their top level officers used to tell their soldiers that they would have breakfast in jaisalmer after that Namaz and dinner in Delhi... but when India opened up the front and had an armoured thrust they ended up defending Lahore.... after world powers intervened Indian forces were taken back who were standing on Pakistan soil for more than a week....

After 1949 up until 1965, things were quite cordial between two neighbours, There were almost open borders, a lot of cultural exchanges, cricket matches, trade, a land mark Indus water treaty etc.

But things changed in 1962, when Pakistani army started thinking, India was too weak to defend it borders, and this something they should take advantage off .

This new bout of India - Pakistan conflict started with Pakistani army aggression in Rann of Kutch and ended with Pakistani army surrender in 1971.

There after Pakistan army was demoralised for next two decades (Even when Siachen was captured by Indian army, Pakistan army meekly accepted the outcome - famous words by Zia ul Haq after Siachen was captured, not a blade of grass grows there, signalling no intent to fight back.)

It took Pak army two decades and acquisition of nuclear weapons to gain back their confidence against India and they could make another move in Kashmir.

It all started with the Pakistan trying to spark a conflict in the Rann of Kutch, which wasn't Pakistan's to begin with, as proven by decision of the International tribunal which in 1968 awarded of 90% of Rann Kutch to India and only 10 percent to Pakistan.
The time u captured Siachen around 1984 search about what Pakistan was doing 1. Nuclear bomb was cold tested around June 1984 ( International media , u can read it some where , just search it ) 2 . Afghanistan War ( where ur best buddy Soviet Union was eyeing on Pakistan hot waters after helping u in 1971 ( no tajikistan e.t.c at that time and was in Afghanistan , what were they up to ? ) . 3 So he was right , he was preparing for what we should and you are preparing ( not 1999 like war ) , battle for Kashmir will be fought we dont know when . So dont be overjoyed on 1971 , dont forget 1947-1948 war where we Won quite large land ( GB , AJK ) and is still with Us . Actual war is yet to come .

Do you EVER HAVE any facts, proof or evidence of ANY kind to support ANY of your claims or delusions?

Another Documentary with good picture quality but no sound till 4.30 min.

CONCLUSION
Although Pakistan's claim was till the 24th parallel, thus giving us an additional 3500sqm of land. The international arbitration made us relinquish our claims. The Rann of Kutch is still India's soft belly and is prone to a major upset if planned effectively.:pakistan:

You forgot mentioning the most important part of the documentary at 4:18 where he talks about Indians leaving behind boxed small arms, rocket launchersr and other equipment with stickers depicting supplies received from US in the name of military aid.

The Americans did give the Indians a lot of aid in the Indo-china war of 1962. They used this aid against Pakistan in the later wars.

You too don't be overjoyed with bold part.... do not forgot you could capture that land when Kashmir was not in India... it was a separate country.... had it joined Indian union immediately after independence believe me today there would have been no AJK to begin with....
