We need new gen-high tech weapons in order to compete with china and maintain balance of power with pakistan.

This is an alarmist article folks. DO you seriously think it would be that bad?

It is more to do with exaggerating the short-comings and to get rid of this government that I fully support.

What we need is ability to mass produce weapons in short notice. And for that, government agencies will have to be either privatized or commercialized so that export revenue can fund the R&D costs and our military can benefit from not being the scapegoat.

But the Civilian government is upto no good and that is certainly not positive. If VK Singh manages to topple this government through influencing its allies, I will recommend him as the next MOD head.

It is about time military personnel got hold of MOD reins. Civilian babus suck in defense jobs.

What the heck is India and Indian Government up to they should have known for a long time and that their weapons systems are getting obsolete what they were doing during all this ?

It is all a BIG SCAM !!! India is already the World's largest Arms importer and she wants to spend more to arm herself to the teeth...so she comes up with a BIG DUMB EXCUSE - 'Our weapons are obsolete therefore we need to buy more".

Imagine Pakistan, China, North Korea, Syria, Libya, etc using the same Indian excuse but then the Western World will cry foul.

I think the current deals are also scam and Su-30 crashes along with M-2000 continuous crashes might result in 50 EF-2000(as force mulitiplier) along with some more M-2000 from France in coming 3-5 years.
