95% of IT “Engineers” in India Incapable, New Report Reveals

Im in the software industry as well. Some people regard IT as answering the phone and say "This is Dell. May I help you?"

Of course you do not want these people checking in code. I wonder if our Indian friends can help us on how they pick H1B candidates. Do they just bend over and grab one out of their behind?

Mate. That could be the case, but if only 5% of so called able programmers can create Hotmail (world's first email), Sun Microsystems (Unix) etc. that 5% are top of the world.

Besides if Indian IT is so shit...why they are everywhere. Here in my organisation, multi-million dollar outsoursing contracts are secured by pure Indian IT companies like TCS, Wipro, HCL, Infosys etc....

.
Agree with this, I have had the misfortune to work with Indians, you give them 4 weeks and nothing is done, lucky my company has decided not to hire Indians anymore or to work with Indians in India.

My General Manager is a woman and these Indians don't want to work with her, they talk down to her, or just ignore her, disgusting Indians even though she is 100 times smarter than these Indians, Indian mentality and culture coming to the fore.

Damn, sucks that Indians in Australia earn a lot more than the average aussie then (want me to post the census income info again?). You guys must really suck according to your own logic.

Well this is not my decision to get rid of them, few are very good and just require little kick back, Western companies learning how Indian most IT folks lie in their cooked up the resume and make it into their env but these folks are creating a very bad name of Indian IT. The gulf between Indian IT hype and reality over the past decade is best shown in numbers. One veteran venture capitalist reckons the investments made in “new-generation” technology firms are worth $5 billion-6 billion today. The largest listed firm has a market capitalisation of $700m. By way of comparison, China’s listed internet firms have a combined value of over $100 billion and its e-commerce sales are about 18 times India’s. Other emerging economies, such as Russia, Argentina, and South Africa, have produced multi-billion-dollar internet champions. During the past decade, India has fallen behind and main root cause is incompetent IT folks.

Yes we sure have fallen behind:

Be sure to type in your equal-equal country to check how you have surged ahead in comparison

Oh whats this... falling behind you say:

Dayum those non politically correct census countries in the west!...must be fake news!

There are dozens of official sources of data on international trade. if you compare these different sources, you will find that they do not agree with one another. Even if you focus on what seems to be the same indicator for the same year in the same country, discrepancies are large. In theory , for example, the exports of country A to country B should mirror the imports of country B from country A. But in real practice this is rarely the case because of differences in valuation. This interpretation of the data is not appropriate, since mismatches in the data can, and often do arise from measurement inconsistencies rather than malfeasance.

Our enemies should be glad that 95% are incapable of basic programing.
With just 5% capable we are able to have 100 billion plus market. If only 50% of rest will become capable we will hit trillion$ in the segment.

Need to understand whats basic programing?
if they are reffering to GWBasic, then it might be 20yr old programing language and people might not able to remember its syntax.

It says basic logical working code not BASIC language, could be any language, If a "Software Engineer" cannot write a working code in GWBasic then he is totally worthless, anyone who studied programming should be able to write BASIC code since it only has about 15 commands

. .
5% of 1.4 billion is a huge number.
All Indians by birth and not Software Programmer

GWBasic was thought in schools 20yrs ago...not sure if you would find same in schools these days. And obviously no Certified Software Developers course starts with GWBasic, minimum they start with C/C++.
And only a fool with take the report posted. Millions of indians working on global IT companies, and if only 5% where efficient programmers, the most of the companies would have not hired Indians across the globe, nor they would have came to india to setup there companies and R&D sector. After all its a knowledge base industry, low cost wont help if there is no knowledge.

oh bbboy, this article is just tip of the ice berg. you have NO idea how many pink-slips and security escort outs I have had to call in on indians who can't even write a simple hello world code. like, they are LITERALLY, rattafication machines who would thoroughly impress you during a verbal interview but when you put them in front of a machine and give them their first task, they look at you with a blank "dear caught in head lights" stare in their eyes! We made up our mind and started giving them white board solving problems to write out...and true to the article, 95% bomb out right there.

it has become a common occurrence in my company where even though we block out at minimum 3 hours for an interview, when it begins the very first interviewer comes out after 5 minutes and tells me to cancel the rest as this guy is worthless.

don't count your eggs before they hatch...almost all of that 100 billion comes from outsourcing to big western companies like microsoft, google, sap and oracle. and over the last few years, there has been a huge spike in local american (and european) computer science graduates which is reducing the need for indian so called "engineers" and "developers". I'm a senior manager in a big corporation just like the ones I just mentioned and truth be told, I have seen more american graduates getting hired than indians which is a 180 degree opposite of what it was merely 5 years ago. those 5% too may end up unemployed.

but don't feel too bad, they can always sell that south indian "fried banana" delicacy. ;)

You find more americans hired now, due to legal requirements and not because STEM courses have been picked up americans and europeans.

And there must be some reasons why major IT companies top management has some Indian.

.
I find the main issue is with Indian companies like Infosys and Tata. They overstate their contractor's experience and try to game the h1b system.

Like I said any programmer whether or not having done any programming in GW should be able to write GW program, It is the simplest of the languages, simple input and output commands, simplest form of arithmetic and variables, the only command worth mentioning is IF ELSE and GOTO. I learned BASIC programming 40 years ago and even today I can write code without any reference.

the Indian co-founder of Sun was not a "programmer". he was more a hardware guy

Every Pakistani here is now working in IT industry...
Great...
One thing that they don't understand is that IT doesn't only contain programming...
For instance if I am a bad coder doesn't mean that it suck in IT industry...
May I ask all self proclaimed IT guys here in PDF to write a simple piece of code and explain it?
Lets see how many reply...

I get the feeling - everything from software development to software testing is clubbed under the IT moniker

Software development and testing is only a small portion of IT industry more or less around 20% the main portion comes under maintenance...
Making sure that the software is effectively running in production environment and does not fail in any unique issue is the big deal...
This is the main reason why devops came into play...

Now every other Pakistani, Chinese are software Engineers working in the US and dealing with Indian Engineers, sure they are highly inefficient and is doing cheating to get their job done.

ha ha ha ............well said ............:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

frustrated and jealous guys .

a lot of pakistani geniuses must be working in your IT company .

I doesn't matter how much you paid, when it comes to understanding the problem and solving the issue, Indian IT crew just staring at you or calling their buddy to save their sinking ship.
