The attack that killed seven on Monday happened in Kech, a town in Balochistan province, local police officer Haider Ali said.

The slain politician, Ishaq Yaqub, was from the Balochistan Awami Party and it was unclear who was behind the attack, said Ali.

The name of Additional District Judge (ADSJ) Humayun Dilawar has gained prominence in Pakistan following his conviction and sentencing of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to three years in prison in the Toshakhana case.

Dilawar not only found Khan guilty of "corrupt practices" in the Toshakhana case but also imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on him. Shortly after delivering the verdict, which included the order for Khan's arrest at his Lahore residence, Dilawar departed for London.
