9 Chinese militants arrested from Fata handed over to Beijing

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has handed over nine Chinese militants arrested from Fata to Beijing.

The Chinese militants handed over to Beijing were involved in attacks on security forces and other terrorist activities.

Islamabad top sources confirmed that the government has handed over nine Chinese militants to the Chinese government. Sources said that Interior Advisor, Rahman Malik was proceeding on an emergent visit to China on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, wher he would be holding vital talks with the security officials.

Muslim majority province in China adjacent to Pakistan border, Sinkiang four years ago had witnessed extremists’ uprising, which was crushed with power and about 200 people were killed in the process.

It is said that this movement enjoyed support of a Pakistan political and religious party, which had necessitated three agreements between Pakistan and China against the militancy and extremism and the nine Chinese militants recently handed over to China under these agreements.

East Turkestan Islamic Movement (Etim) is the group which has ties with Al-qaeda.

LONDON - After the United States, now China has also warned Pakistan that East Turkestan Islamic Movement (Etim), a separatist militant group from Xinjiang province, was plotting and planning attacks to coincide with the 60th anniversary celebrations of the communist revolution, from inside Pakistan’s tribal areas, it is revealed.
Mushahid Hussain Syed, former chairman of the Senate foreign affairs committee while talking to TheNation on phone said in two separate meetings over recent months, senior Chinese officials had called on President Asif Ali Zardari to take action against the said group. Chinese officials revealed details of the meetings to Mushahid Hussain during his visit to Kazakhstan.
Mushahid said, “They told me that the Etim has its military headquarters in Fata and is planning to attack China on the 60th anniversary celebration of the communist revolution in October”.
He said Meng Jianzhu, China’s Minister for Public Security, flew from Beijing to Shanghai to discuss the threat with Present Zardari during his visit to China in late February. “President Zardari was not there to meet with the Chinese leadership”, said Mr Hussain. “The minister met with him for 90 minutes to discuss this issue”.
More recently, Beijing dispatched a special envoy to Islamabad in March to discuss the alleged threat posed by the Etim, Hussain added.
The Etim and Chinese militants have long maintained a low-profile presence in Pakistan’s tribal areas.
Both Washington and Beijing have listed Etim as a terrorist group and suspect it of having links with Al-Qaeda.
The Pakistani army had killed Hasan Mahsoum, the group’s leader and founder, in Pakistan in 2003.

The spokesman of President Zardari Farhat Ullah Babar was not available for his comments.

Idiotic foreigners all want to get a piece of the action in Pakistan... I strongly think we need to find way to seal the border.

Sealing the border is overstated as an impossible task as if it would be a new wonder of the world or something. Get some ideas in, some construction work, some security work, mix it up, we can have workable solutions if we just gave it a shot.

Here is the puzzling part: US started WW3 (aka fighting the terrorists). The US recognized the Chinese militants in Xinjiang belong to a terrorist organization.

During military operation in Afghanistan, the US troops captured some Chinese militants and they were brought to Guantanamo for interrogation.

China asked the US for the captured militants to be returned to China after the US intelligence done with them, however, the US refused to return them. Instead, some of them were set free, I think.

I am curious what proof china provided against these militants. Is it like the proof India has been asked to provide against militants it wants extradited. Eg. Dawood Ibrahim
