Rest in peace, Amjad Sabri.

Renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri was shot dead after his vehicle came under attack in Karachi on Wednesday.

His untimely death is indeed a great loss to not only the Pakistani music industry, but also for global fans of qawwali.

In tribute to him, we have compiled a list of his best performances.

1. Mast Qalandar

2. Tajdar-e-Haram

3. More Haji Piya — Halla Bol

4. Karam Mangta Hoon

5. Tum Se Mil Ke Dil Ka Jo Haal — Mein Hoon Na

6. Khawaja Ki Diwani

7. Ali Ke Saath Hai Zehra Ki Shaadi

8. Bhar do Jholi

Rest in peace, Amjad Sabri.

Pakistani's are just hypocrites of the first order, Amjad Sabri's death has proved it again. Nobody cared about him whilst he was alive. I hardly ever saw his live qawwali performance anywhere on TV. His contribution was limited to cheap morning shows and Ramadan transmissions and background voice artist for various channels - why? Because no one would want to revive the sufi spirit that existed during the time of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He did more live shows abroad than in Pakistan in last 10 years. He was living a life of financial hardships. Now if people really liked and cared about him that much, why was he like that and not living a lavish life like Sharukh Khan? But now suddenly everyone is crying about him? What a bunch of jokers we have become or lets say, hypocrites of the first order who will burn in hell till eternity. No one care'd about this 'Artist' when he was alive, No one really gives a fk now that he is dead. Its just another mass propaganda campaign going on right now by various political and terrorist parties to fail Opreation Zarb e Azab by turning this hypocrite nation against its military forces.

I am not sure which hole you are living in but he was present on many TV channels including PTV...through out his life..and I have seen many of his performances on different TV Channels..Qawwali isnt pop music and it has its own audience and timings..You will argue that Pakistani media also does not care of icons like Nusrat and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan because they also do not much such frequent appearance in Pakistani media..

I have not seen Faakhir on any Pakistani channel for ages now so according to your logic he has been abandoned too..On the contrary..Qandeel Baloch has been getting a lot of headlines recently so Pakistan must be having huge respect for her talent...

That's not true at all, I have been living abroad for good part of my life and still I have been listening his qawwalis and naats especially during during long drives. I'm not totally up-to-date about the status of media in Pakistan but I saw, posthumously, a lot of youtube videos of Pakistani TV shows in which he is shown performing live. Furthermore, he was a singer of a niche genre so people are not listening to this type of music only. A massive reaction and shock among masses on his murder speaks volume about his popularity. Please refrain from declaring the whole nation as hypocrite for whatever you perceived as a double-standard.

Another perfect performance by the legend..King of Qawali!

The way forward to preserve our heritage and re-emerge stronger is for the Pakistani talent community to fund and support his son's rise to same fame and prominence...

The terrorist can kill our people they can never kill our will...

Not sure how you came with such assumptions. It is your fault if you did not follow him when he was alive. He was a popular personality during his lifetime. The reason he was not living a lavish life is because he didnt want to live such life in the first place.

He didnt want to leave the home town of his ancestors and wanted to spend a common man's life. He of course didnt make enough money like Bollywood singers but that is down to the fact that income from such professuon is far less in Pakistan. Our most popular actor earns only a fraction of average of Indian actor so the industries in both countries pays very differently but it didnt mean he was poor by any classification.

Well said i shared one of his Qawalis on facebook and even on defence.pk some time back and no one seemed to care.....Every one was crazy about Atifs version because of the hype created by Coke Studio and now that he is no more people are displaying his pictures, using them as their avatars and talking about him as if they really care. Pakistani's are just emotional people, shake them emotionally and then they get carried away otherwise they are mostly oblivious of everything, except their personal lives.
