7th Round of Pak-China Defence and Security Talks starts

RAWALPINDI, Jan 10: An eight member Chinese delegation headed by General Ma Xiaotian, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), currently on a swift visit to Pakistan for 7th Round of Pak-China Defence and Security Talks, held day long discussions at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala with Pakistani delegation led by General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

The bilateral dialogue was aimed at sharing perspectives on the fast evolving regional security situation for developing common insight into the emerging scenarios and coordinating common responses.

The discussion focused at the impact of changing global security dynamics, progress in the efforts against terrorism and violent extremism, revised US strategy for Afghanistan, intra-regional disputes and posturing of involved states, and the tenuous spectre of strategic stability in the region.

The discussion also focused on ETIM terrorism related threat and measures for security of the Chinese manpower working in Pakistan. The two sides also undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral military cooperation and the progress of various ongoing defence projects, making specific proposals for mutually beneficial future collaboration in operational, training, intelligence, logistics and defence industrial fields including indigenization projects and joint ventures.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman JCSC, General Tariq Majid extended felicitation on 60th Anniversary of China and lauded a spectacular economic progress and technological modernization to rise as a reckonable power in the global politics and global economy, playing a crucial stabilization role in many regions of the world. He termed time tested multi dimensional Pakistan-China strategic partnership as the bedrock of stability in the region and said, "as the world grows more complex and regional situation more challenging, it has become even more critical to add greater depth and dynamism to this relationship".

Reiterating China’s solidarity and continuing support for Pakistan in meeting the challenges General Ma Xiaotian, Deputy Chief of General Staff, PLA appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and
violent extremism and stated, "we acknowledge the great sacrifices rendered by Pakistan, its people and the Armed Forces in combating terrorism, for which Pakistan deserves the praise and gratitude
of the entire world, indeed the mankind".

Later in the evening, a banquet was hosted by General Tariq Majid in the honour of General Ma Xiaotian and his delegation, which was also attended by senior Pakistani military officers from the three services and officials from the Ministries of Defence and Defence Production.

Also 8-16 Chinese submarines over the next 3-6 years will also enhance the Navy. We should build subs with TOT with China, France, Italy and Germany.

Hold on gentlemen, its good to be imaginative but its even more important to be realistic. His Excellency mohtram jnab sarkar Sir Zardari is still holding on to his beloved chair. So as long as he is in power, reduce couple of submarines in the name of his respect and since some more of his friends are also serving the country as minister, you better keep the number to a realistic level of 4 or even 3 subs max. :hitwall:

Procurement is not the only reason for talks, even though that is generally the most exciting issue for us on this forum. Pakistan and China face common threats, these talks will almost surely focus on some strategic defence issues as well. The honorable Indian Army Gen. Deepak Kapoor has made it quite clear recently, they are not fond of either country. The best thing we can do now is make sure we give him as many sleepless nights as possible.

Such projects are always long-term, so Zardari will have little to do with all of them. For example, nobody but the Navy can decide how many submarines and of what types they really require. Of course, unlike a military government, a civilian government can't always give the Armed Forces what they want, and they shouldn't. However, the overall needs of the country must be taken into account. We must not be blinded by our love for weapons so as not to realize that there are many problems that can't be solved with them.

In short, if PN determines that they need more than 3 or 4 submarines of a certain type, then Zardari can't do much about it. However, that still doesn't mean that PN will or should get them all.

Pakistan-China friendship can never been broken.
We will never forgot what pakistan did during the big earthquate in SiChuan.

Explication: In order to carry more goods and materials to chinese people who had been hit by a natural calamity of earthquake in sichuan province, the seats had been disassembled in the aerotransport of pakistan, so the doctors had to sit on the ground.

This picture really let us feel what is real friendship.

Back to the topic, I am shame on PLA just say appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism without doing nothing. Shame Shame, Shame on let our brother suffer from terrorist.

Defence analysts have said there was need for both countries to enhance the level of their coordination and work together to preserve peace in the region.

They said Pakistan and China were nuclear powers and had the capacity to defend their territorial integrity.

They said the armed forces of Pakistan had enhanced their level of operational readiness and were prepared to thwart any attempt to challenge its territorial integrity.

China is not sleeping ,they are fully aware about threat emerging from AMERICAN presence in the region ,they are just waiting for right time and now on wait and watch policy .but something is going on among leaders .Well hope for good .
