71% of Indians cannot afford a healthy diet: CSE Report

. . . .
The World Inequality report 2022 issued this month, which tracks global trends in inequality, marks this dichotomy. India is one of the most unequal countries in the world, with rising poverty and yet an affluent elite, the report states.23-Dec-2021

$3.2 trillion

Just 2.1% of the GDP, much less than what our rich neighbour spends.

Yet an average vegetarian Indian consumes more calories than our non-veg eating neighbour, all hail neutrals!

Do you have a non-wiki source that is credible to back up your above claims? wiki can easily be manipulated.

Funny how poverty is rising in India with high GDP growth and low population growth while a country stuck at $1500 per capita gdp for half a decade is one of the richest on earth thanks to Seepek🙃.

Atleast our elite invest money back to our economy which generates employment and economic growth.

While the much of the richest guys in our neighbourhood are politicians or owners of real estate companies and not industrialists, poverty and inequality much?

Until last year I used to read this sort of reports and get really concerned about India. This year I moved back to India after decades and find this and similar reports thoroughly wrong - everything I go deep into their data and methodology I find either amateurish efforts or in some cases outright dishonesty.

I am frequenting several villages in the outskirts of Bengaluru since Feb this year and the average diet is just fine quality, nutrition and cost. In fact it is the idiots in the city paying 10 times what they should to eat unhealthy Dominos and corn chip nachos over spiced up cheese of questionable origin.

Poverty exists, bad diet exists 71% can't afford is not at all believable. And then read the very 1st paragraph and you see the problem. - their idea of healthy diet is the American definition. Villager in Tamul Nadu is not going to spend money buying almonds and pistachios, he gets his protein from his meat or other ways and his D3 from the sun.

Not saying we don't have major nutritional deficiency in our country but 71% is pure BS same level of BS as 800 million million not having toilet in India. I mean do people actually believe those numbers?

In other words you have NO CREDIBLE or GENUINE evidence to disprove the OP....................without realising it, you have proved the OP CORRECT!.............

Broken gaand bharti member was flexing his economy a few days ago on a thread. I guess he was doing it because he doesn’t get adequate vitamins and nutrients in his diet.

This is also explains why bhartis are super skinny with pot bellies. All those chappatis with grass and pao bajji are still calories which convert into sugars and fat.

india also has the HIGHEST number of people in the world suffering from stunted growth who are also acutely malnourished:

.
Either way our situation is still better and is getting better day by day, we don’t see double digit inflation and double digit electricity & fuel price hikes in India atleast which makes it difficult for common man to live.

Good response on the dal kori intellect

Could you share the source link with me

Calories are primary while nutrients are secondary

If a patient is malnourished the first thing doctors recommend is a diet of rice, bananas and glucose drinks so that patient has enough energy to sustain themselves

Nutritional supplements are recommended only after the patient makes progress

One can survive long without nutrients but will die in a week of starvation if basic calorie requirements are not met

Haha, stop wasting hard earned money on expensive armaments such as the Rafale jets from France which was a rip off.

Solve Kashmir dispute fair and square, so you can fix your house.
