Formed in 1984, National Security Guard was modelled on the pattern of the Special Air Services of the UK and GSG-9 of Germany.

They are trained to conduct counterterrorist task, including counter-hijacking tasks on land, sea, and air, bomb disposal, post-blast investigation and hostage-rescue missions.

Special Frontier Force

Special Frontier Force was created in 1962 to conduct covert operations behind Chinese lines in the event of another Sino-Indian War.

It is under the operational command of the RAW.

The unit's personnel is derived from Tibetan resistance fighters.

It is a dedicated mountain and jungle warfare unit.

The special force unit of the Indian Air Force, Garud was formed in 2004 and derives its name from Garuda (a Hindu mythological bird).

They specialize in airfield seizure, special reconnaissance, airborne operations, air assault, special operations combat search and rescue and counter insurgency.

Special Protection Group

Formed in 1988, is tasked with proximate security of the prime minister, former PMs and their immediate family members.

They carry some of the most sophisticated weapons that include FN Herstal (assault rifle), Glock pistol and FN Herstal (P90).

Force One

The special commando unit of the Mumbai police, Force One was formed after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Force One takes 15 minutes to respond to a strike and were initially trained under close guidance from the Israeli special forces.

Para Commandos

Indian Army has seven units that are a part of the larger Parachute Regiment.

Para Commandos are trained to carry out intelligence collection, subversion and sabotage of vital enemy infrastructure and communications through deep penetration and surgical strikes behind enemy lines.

MARCOS (Marine commandos)

The special force unit of the Indian Navy, Marine commandos are modelled on the US Navy SEALS.

Established in 1987, they are trained to conduct amphibious warfare, counter-terrorism, special reconnaissance, hostage rescue and asymmetric warfare.

They were the first to respond to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

They are capable of being para-dropped into the sea with full combat load.

  • The NSG is under the authority Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • The personnel of NSG are known as Black Cats because of the black dress and black cat signage worn on its uniform.

Shri R.C. Tayal, Special DG, CRPF appointed as DG, NSG Shri R.C. Tayal, IPS (AM:80), Special DG, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been appointed as Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) from the date of assumption of charge of the post.
 
After failing to make in any of international lists of World Top Special Forces Listing, India have decided to launch there very own "India's 7 might commando forces" :lol: At least this way they will get on the list now :sarcastic:

COBRA Commando ka naam hi ni.
Un chutiyon ka naam hai jinka operational achievement zero hai. Inme se aadhi commando force ne real life encounter kabhi dekha bhi ni hai. Ek goli tak ni chalayi. Kisne banayi hai list bulao usko aur bina kisi knowledge banane wale media house (No offence to OP)
