7 injured after F-35 jet crashes on aircraft carrier in South China Sea

IMO, in international waters, who found it first will own it. Chinese are near and could move their appropriate equipment rapidly, while USA needs days or weeks waiting for the equipment to arrive.

I don't think it is that simple otherwise the US wouldn't have had to hide the fact that they were recovering the Soviet K-129.

.
Toughest job to land a aircraft at the moving ship.

People are ready to make fun in PDF but only few countries with one of the best pilots do this extremely tough job for their nation's

If something happened or similar to Chinese AC we knw very well about Indian ******* reactions all over the internet.. apnay peo ki bari aye hey tu bhashan dena shuru hogaye hain… u thirdworld shit hole laughing on 2 Pakistani pilots who died in the heli crash @ Siachin and guess What exactly after 48 hours your fatu Bipin roasted in the heli crash along with crew and sudden your piece of shit nation started to giving lecture about ethics, morality etc etc …

. . .
Let's watch who will win the race.

The US Navy has the equipment and know-how. They have been surreptitiously grabbing things off the ocean floor for decades. The water is not deep compared to this crazy recovery.

A U.S. Navy MH-60S helicopter lies upside down on the deck of a contracted salvage vessel off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 18. The helo, which crashed into the Philippine Sea Jan. 25, 2020, was pulled from a depth of 19,075 feet by NAVSEA's Supervisor of Salvage and Diving at the request of the Navy Safety Center to facilitate the accident investigation. Impressive, that depth is just slightly less than two thirds of the height of Mount Everest!

LOL, on a side note, if you want to make a point of how brilliant the US deep marine salvage tech is, by quoting from US media, an imperial length of 19,075 feet means absolutely nothing to the young Chinese readers here on the forum. It's just an abstract number which do not relate to their day-to-day routine, as not everyone is carrying a calculator trying to multiply by 0.3048.

They were taught in school using the metric system (International System of Units or SI), so do the rest of the world, apart from the US, Liberia, Myanmar, and probably a handful of ex-British colonies... yeah, this just shows how these countries are out of step with the rest of the world. The UK is officially metric, in line with the rest of Europe, when she was still in the EU. However, imperial measures are still in use, especially for road distances(miles). Imperial pints and gallons are 20 per cent larger than US measures, which could somewhat cause confusion.

19,075 feet = 5.81406 kilometers

has a maximum depth of 16,457 feet (5,016 metres)

mean depth of 3,976 feet (1,212 metres).

Depth isn't the limiting factor. SCS is a very noisy body of water with tons of random rocks and junk at the bottom. Sonar will have a hard time finding it. And unlike a helicopter, a fighter can glide due to hydrodynamics, it could be multiple km away from known entry point.

Talking about contributons, just to set the history record straight, Jin Dynasty China invented Bamboo-copter/dragonfly/Chinese Top around 320 AD, which perhaps is the first tangible device of what people may understand as a helicopter, at that time, 1700 years ago, the USA wasn't even around...

Later, a British engineer, the inventor of modern aeronautics, George Cayley experimented such helicopter concept in 1792, which he later called "rotary wafts" or "elevating fliers" and made improvements. This is a proof that every scientific progress is made by accumulating previous scientific knowledge, i.e. standing on someone else's shoulders.

To mock and belittle other civilisations for their contribution which one has no knowledge about only shows the "shallowness" of oneself. Mind you, both China and Britain have doorknobs older than the entire history of the "good old" USA...

In contrast, the same year 1792, 16 years after her founding at 1776, the USA just passed her first Postal Service Act in Feb, her first Coinage Act in April, constructed the first blast furnace for melting industrial metals in Pittsburgh, celebrated her first Columbus Day in New York, 300 years after his arrival in the New World...

Sorry to hear gambit's definition of so-called "dawn" in the USA comes in so late...
You had to go back 300 yrs to find something significant.

"The wreckage was recovered from a depth of approximately 12,400-feet by a team from CTF 75 and the NAVSEA's Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) embarked on the diving support construction vessel (DSCV) Picasso," said a statement from the Navy's Seventh Fleet.

The plane was recovered using a remotely operated vehicle, known as the CURV-21, that attached specialized rigging and lift lines to the aircraft so it could be raised by the crane aboard the Picasso.
