ISLAMABAD – Only 36 percent of the Pakistani population on average, including 41% in urban areas and 32% rural areas, has access to safe drinking water in the country, according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Results of the water-quality monitoring efforts by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) indicate that 69 to 85% of collected samples of water were contaminated.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has established 24 water-quality monitoring laboratories all over the country to check quality of water on the provided samples, a ministry official told APP.

He said that the poor quality of drinking water has forced a large cross-section of citizens to buy bottled water. As a consequence, a mushrooming of bottled water industry in the country has been witnessed during the last few years.

Many mineral/bottled water companies, however, were found selling contaminated water.

To monitor and improve the quality of bottled water, the government through Ministry of Science and Technology has designated the task to PCRWR for quarterly monitoring of bottled/mineral water brands and publicise the results.

According to the monitoring report for the quarter from July to September, 2017, 104 samples of mineral/bottled water brands have been collected from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Peshawar, Multan, Lahore, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Tandojam, Karachi and Muzaffarabad.–APP

Guys. Aquafina is the only good water there as it’s been PH tested. Don’t even trust Nestle.

For all you sensitive mommy daddy bachay that travel to Pakistan. Just take charcoal pills/tablets and pop them at the first sign of trouble from your stomach. Everything will be fine. Fortunately I've never had a problem with water or food in Pakistan.

There are around 30 tests including TSS, TDS, Arsenic, Silica, Iron, Lead, Turbidity, Pesticides, TOC, Microbiology and even the radioactivity tests (alpha and beta emitters) etc. Nestle is as good as Aquafina if not better. Ministry of science issues a monthly update on their website regarding bottled water companies in Pakistan.

Really? I read something else. I don’t maybe I’ll just test the taste between the two and see how it goes

A fake Nestle filling facility (the original was unaware of it) was caught sometime ago, otherwise Nestle is very stringent when it comes to its standards.

There is a test for taste as well, however a mere taste doesn't show the water is okay or not for consumption.

I don't see what the issue is. They have metro bus what more could they possibly ask for. Food, water and education isn't even necessary.

Yes you are correct, unfortunately jahil awaam thinks infrastructure will solve all their problems and completely ignoring health which is in pathetic state.

Pakistanis choose democracy over clean water.
It's not possible to fit politicians and efficiency in one bracket.
