62% Bangladeshi users to have smartphones by 2025: Report

You are a joke bud.

Ask @Bilal9. I am sure they'd be buying since they can't afford new ones of anything.

There is no shame in buying second-hand mobile phones. Many Chinese people also buy second-hand mobile phones. Europe also has stores selling second-hand goods.

I mean, there's something wrong with the data you provided.

BTW: Poverty has never been a disgrace. Any country used to be poor. But it is a shame to ridicule others on the grounds of poverty.

How it started

Unlike kanjoosis in India, people in Bangladesh on average spend more on cellphones.

How it's going.

If locally made smartphones are priced lower and have better quality than Indian phones, what do you think happens, Mr. marketing genius?

Even with smartphones ''priced lower'' you buy only 7 million of them, or 1/3rd per capita of that of India. How pathetic.

Why are you trolling these kids, jealous of their effort? Indian market research firms will not get hired - no matter how sophisticated their Dhokeybaaji.

No one cares. That's why you wouldn't find any market research firm worth their salt analyzing your market. And that's why you have ''can't-edit-MS-Word-table'' market research firm imposters instead.

People in Bangladesh hate Indians with a vengeance. Even average person on the street knows what Indians are made of, Thanks to people like you.

Let them. What's the worst they can do?

Consume more of our products? Get shot by the BSF?

You are wasting your time with these Indian extremist Hindu supremacist folks here. They hate everyone besides their own kind, Bangladeshi Muslims, Pakistanis and Chinese are their number one enemy. Despite getting help and business and exploiting us in Bangladesh for about $30 Billion a year on average for fifty years in unequal trade, Indians still are not happy. They want more. They block Bangladeshi imports to India on flimsy 'dumping' pretexts. Just a sad, sad group of communal, scheming people that run India now.

To them - India (whose GDP per capita in real terms is worse than Bangladesh) is the greatest super power nation on earth. Boasting about Nuclear subs and Aircraft carrier when two thirds of Indians don't know how to use a toilet. Boasting show projects like Mars Mission when under-five kids there have worse nutrition levels than sub-saharan africa. Telling lies is the only way they can justify the fascist politics of Modi, whom they elected. Not much exaggeration to say Modi ruined Indian economy before covid times, and then economy shrunk 13% during covid.

You will find that even wealthy Indians hanker after showing off with brand-name cellphones like iPhones and Samsungs, but can't afford the stratospheric prices. Least costly iPhone in India sells for 40,000 Rupees So Indians spring for used iPhones and Samsungs which cost around Rupees 7000.

In fact India is the world's largest second hand cellphone market. They will hide this cheap habit at any cost however, they will never ever admit it.

It's not the propensity of not being able to afford new phones by some Indians that irks me.

It's the fraudulent trickery by certain people in India (like the chest beaters here) who want to flaunt and flash wealth yet want to hide their cheap habits. Duplicitous trickery in a human being is the worst and least desirable trait.

I am proud to buy re-conditioned (re-manufactured) when necessary, and I am proud to admit it. Nothing wrong there. I will not resort to lies just so my ego doesn't get bruised.

You are wasting

<<cut out the BS>>

my ego doesn't get bruised.

I understand how painful it must be, for you to type up such a long salty post to relieve the pain.

The average price of a smart phone in India, where 150 million devices are sold is $200.

The average price of a smartphone in Bangladesh where less than 7 million smartphones are sold is $94.

So the consumption of smartphones in India is nearly 6 times that of India by value, per capita.

Apple soars past sales targets in Q1, says pleased with India growth story

According to a latest report by market intelligence firm CMR, Apple shipped over a million iPhones in the country in the first quarter of 2021, growing close to an impressive 90 per cent (on-year) during the three-month period.

As per early estimates from CMR, iPhone 11 and XR accounted for 67 per cent of Apple's shipments during the January-March period.

According to Counterpoint Research, Apple maintained its leading position in the India premium smartphone market with nearly 48 per cent share in the first quarter of 2021.

Apple witnessed a massive 207 per cent growth (year-on-year) in India in Q1 2021, continuing to carry forward its momentum in the January-March period this year.

Apple has also registered more than 1 million shipments for two consecutive quarters for the first time.

Not just iPhones, Apple also grabbed the second position in the India tablet market with a market share of 29 per cent in the January-March quarter.

In Q1 2021, Apple iPads continued to perform exceptionally in India with more than 140 per cent (year-on-year) growth, as per estimates by CMR.

Apple will soon produce its flagship and environment-friendly iPhone 12 smartphone in India for the local customers.

The company started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with iPhone SE. Today, Apple manufactures some of its most advanced iPhones in India including XR, iPhone 11, and now iPhone 12.

@Bilal9 You are seriously ill-educated moron. Don't project what happens in your shit hole of an economy onto ours. iPhone sales alone will cross 4 million this year.

Please get your head out of your a$$ and see the reality.

BBS can't manipulate actual sales, can it?

. . .
The 7 million smart phone sold every year in Bangladesh seems to me a conservative estimate and based on old data.

Legally every year 3.6 cr mobile sets are sold every year. Even based on that I highly doubt proportion of smart phone is just 7 million.

Now maids, driver, watchman and even rickshaw puller uses smartphones. Using of Facebook, viber, what’s app, TikTok is like necessity to even village people. Is it possible to do the same using feature phones?

Most importantly the recent report said that 1 cr sets are brought to Bangladesh illegally. Majority of it should be smart phones.

Using all these data I don’t believe 7 million smart phone purchase every year is a credible data. Real figure is significantly higher than that.

That’s did not take into account illegally imported handset. Majority people I know brought handset from abroad. The reasons are it’s cheaper and reliable.

Even in Bangladesh huge market is there for fake/clone and used set those are not counted in the stat.

Still both didn’t add up to 3.5 crore.

The 7 million figure is simply outdated and unreliable.

Plus as you can see in 2016-17 more than 8 millions handsets are sold. All these indicates majority are still using the handset they brought from abroad or naught earlier. It’s common to use same hand set for 3-5 years.

There was a time (and not sure if it still happens) lots of blocked/barred on IMEI list entered BD. I don't know if blocked phones still function in BD. The number of people with phones is undercounted in BD, even the ones who beg on the street are pulling out some kind of touchscreen device. You will see it time and time again, they make their little designated pouch to keep the phone in and bam they pull it out and you're surprised because of the mofos conditions lmao.

Digital Fokinni !!

According to that list Bangladesh has higher cellphone penetration than India and Pakistan but who really knows??

What matters is how many are actually made locally.

Illegal IMEI numbers should be caught and deleted. Govt. must step up the enforcement.

That way local smartphone makers can sell a few more units.
