Pakistan Briefly Detains US Hip-Hop Group

Pakistani police briefly arrested a visiting US hip-hop group after accusing one of the group's members of taking photographs of sensitive installations in the northern city of Rawalpindi, Pakistani television network Geo TV reported Wednesday.

The members of the group FEW Collective were attending a musical performance at a local university when they were stopped and briefly detained.

The six members of the group, a US officer, Pakistani staff from the embassy and Pakistani musicians were detained for about an hour on a military base, a US embassy spokesman told AFP.

"While one of the performers may have taken a photograph while traveling in an embassy vehicle on a public road, no sensitive installations were visible from the vehicle," the US embassy said. "The performer was not aware of restrictions placed on photography in or near the cantonment and had no intention of taking photographs of sensitive Pakistani government or military installations."

Geo TV reported that police destroyed the images before releasing the group.



Why let people go on these roads... and if they do, why arrest for taking pictures? If one really intends to take such pictures from public roads - there can be no way to stop it. Very similar to the frivolous rule of "No taking pictures inside Delhi Metro station".

I guess the cops are stupid too. Nowadayz they can transmitt the live pictures or the videos to their main recordz center or emails right away from the spot. They don't even need to keep them within their carrying cameras. The only way to prevent spying is not to let them around the sensitive locations with anykinda cameras, open or hidden.The sattelites cant take front views, it can take only top views.In order to teach/feed the sattelite computers they need to take out the front footage with the video cameras physically from the spot.Thats how the GPS programming systems have been developed....

You are absolutely right about that. Infact these terrorists don't hit their targets unless they are directed by their central command centers and that is located within the US itself...Thats why they don't have to be scared of their own made terrorists...Pakistani pplz don't even have time to think other than to make their living. So howcome these poor Pakistani pplz can think of terrorism stuff. For terrorism a lot of resources are needed and ordinary pplz can't even afford them.Yes the Well developed countries can sponsor them and especially in Pakistan it is obviously sponsored by our dear enemies who are always posing as our best friendz/allies from outside.....

Someone posted Photograph of Chaklala Air Base where C-130s stationed, does it mean that person also is a Spy?

Do they really need to come close to the airport and take pics the easiest would be to attach an iphone HD video live recording to a radio control in less then 20 minutes you capture vast area. Toronto Airport has live cams monitoring outside and inside airports had they installed it these guys would not even come over for whatever reason in the first place, poor performance of government departments.

Police and Airport Authority needs to change rules-regulations 1-2 person entry per family entering-exiting going outside Pakistan. Just go and see Peshawar or Islamabad Airport 99% crowd comes for fun naswari charsee people there if a guy is going to dubai atleast 15 people would be accompanying him, this is serious Airport authorities must do something about it all over Pakistan Airports.
