Six jawans were killed on Sunday when Maoists blew up their vehicle with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district today, police said.

DIG (Dantewada Range) Ratan Lal Dangi said the Maoists triggered the blast between Cholnar and Kirandul villages when a joint team of the Chhattisagarh Armed Force and the District Force, in an SUV, was escorting a vehicle carrying material for road construction work.

“6 jawans dead, 1 injured according to preliminary investigation. Search operation is being held by security forces. Blast could be of high intensity, but the exact details will come after the investigation,” news agency ANI quoted Sunder Raj P, DIG of Anti-Naxal Operation, saying.

Dangi said the Maoists also looted the weapons of the police personnel and that reinforcement was rushed to the spot soon after the incident.

Road construction work is underway between Kirandul and Palnar villages in Dantewada.

Further details are awaited.

Earlier in April, security forces had killed eight Maoists, including five women, in a forest in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. This followed a major operation in neighbouring Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli, which left 39 rebels dead.

MOISTS are doing far better than Kashmiri freedom fighters, we must provide them good training and anti armor weapons.

But the Indians at least those crawling on PDF always show more concern about freedom fighters in IOK than elsewhere. I guess just as their submission in the Red Corridor, they will gradually learn to accept the freedom movement in IOK as well.

Because Kashmiris are Muslims and these neo-Nazis are obsessed with Islam and Muslims only.

Btw, is there any local source for following LeT/JeM/Hizb activity? Like do these guys have any social media handles?

Actually Maoists are weak now.
Back in 2009-10, there used to be around 300 security personnel casualties every year but in 2016 & 2017 it has been reduced to only 60-70.
Plus back then Maoists attacks happened in 6-7 states now only 1 or 2 States have such attacks

Don't worry, now they are targeting when they need with quite ease, they don't need to launch near suicidal attacks, they are now capable to kill and return safe as many as hey want.

Actually they have lost their cadre base which is why security casualties decreased 75% compared to 2009-10.

As with most such issues, the Maoists should think of coming to the negotiating table.

These maoists are poorly equipped and this is what they are doing. What if they were as well equipped like TTP?

Indian security forces would have peed in their pants.
