I do not agree with the substance of the article. Not as a Pakistani but as an analyst.
Pakistan IS facing problems, saying that it isn't is plain stupidity, however, saying that it has gone in an irreversible direction or has become the ultimate "Don't be like him" of the world is also exaggeration.
Not too long ago, we were seeing an annual growth rate of 8.6% per annum and had good if not excellent standing in the world community. That progress has been lost to corruption, bad policies and terrorism but the people who drive that growth are still here and as soon as they get a suitable environment, they'll be back at it again.
Pakistan is a lot of things that Egypt would envy,
We are, love us or hate us, a(very) politically significant country.
We are the largest manpower contributors to UN Peace Missions across the world.
We are the heirs of the two most important trade routes in the world. G.T Road(CARs,Afg,Pak,Ind) and Silk Route(China to Pak).
We are the world's seventh nuclear power.
We have among the world's five largest reserves of Coal, Natural Gas, Salt and Copper.
And I haven't even started on textiles, agriculture, largest earth-filled dam, largest irrigation system and thousands more.
All we have to do is get our act together as a nation and be a role model for the world to follow!
Pessimism Murdabad !
