I guess it is just my family who gets gas from gobbi :fie:

I prefer shalgham ghost or beetroot (whats that in Urdu) and ghost?
kohe baat nhi gas wese be boht mengi hai :P
reason why cauliflower gives gas is because it is high in sulphur just like garlic, onion, leek , broccoli, sweet potatoes, green beans, spinach etc.. enjoy farting which is harmless anyway
:D
beetroot ko chokundar bolte hain Urdu main

.
Buri baat
Khane ko aesa nhi boltey
Ghobi ghost is so delicious try it
and ghobi pakora not bad either

Alu Gobi is my and my brother's favorite vegetable dish since our childhood, even here in germany our university mess used to have one "desi" dish somtimes on the menu and you know what it was "Alu Ghobi" which shows the power of Gobi as signature of south asia.

You are enjoying this very much arent you?

Well, I just dont eat ghobbi since young ...have successfully kept away from it (except the forced eating in functions) forever now!

Ahh yes! Wait that is not with ghost...What is that pink / red colour ghost cooking type called?

It is called Chaqandar/Chuqandar in both urdu and punjabi, usually it is used as salad in raw form on rare occasions like weddings/birthday celebrations etc., never saw anyone cooking it.

Thank god I didnt go to that Uni...God bless you all!

I remember a Russian flatmate once made beetroot soup ...They usually add meat but just so I could have it he added beans instead....was yummy...

I think in UAE I have seen beetroot in the salad in its raw form (or maybe it is boiled not sure)

I actually like the mixture of meat with vegetables i.e Gobi Gosht/Palak ghosht/geema karele
Only vegetable which I don't like eating is kaddu

.
Palak ghosh
yum

:fie: another no go vege...Though I ate once someone else's cooking ...it was nice....it wasnt bitter ...

Aww kmon! I didnt like that vege either (I dont like many vege)

BUT Pumpkin soup is yummy!!
Pumpkin pasta in creamy sauce is yummy too!! I tried it once coz a Sri Lankan hostel mate introduced it... (not liking Pumpkin I was reluctant) but it was awesome!!

I actually learnt to eat some vege when I moved to UK (the part we moved to - we couldnt find the halal shop) until then we ate vege...then when I moved to Europe and again first few weeks didnt find any halal shop so was eating vege in the mess....THAT is how I actually learnt to eat vege (non desi style) in different ways!

I had this first time last year and it was yummy!!

But in pakistan people usually mix alu with vegetables, like Alu Ghobi, Alu Palak, Alu Shalgam, Alu Baingan etc. But it is possible that richer families in big urban areas mix vegetables with meat. But believe me in rural and semi-urban areas of Punjab Pakistanis don't mix vegetables with meat, they always cook meat in its pure form, the only exception is Qeema which is often mixed with green peas or potato.
