Iran’s VP Soltanifar met with Georgian Deputy Speaker Gubaz Sanikidze and exchanged ideas on tourism-related issues.
The Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) and Vice President Massoud Soltanifar met with Mr. Gubaz Sanikidze, Georgian Deputy Speaker and the Head of Iran-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship on Sunday, Mehr News Agency reported
The two officials talked over a host of issues mainly focused on tourism upon which Soltanifar urged for expansion of ties with Georgia, calling the current status of tourism between Iran and Georgia unsatisfactory as the flow of tourists between the two neighbors is narrow.
Iranian VP voiced hope for coordinative measures to upgrade tourism between Iran and Georgia and increase the number of visitors crossing the common border of the neighbors.
Commenting on the current status of tourism in Iran, Soltanifar recounted that 5.1 million foreigners visited Iran in 2014 while the number is expected to reach 20 million by 2025.

Iran’s top tourism official added that the country has been taking measures needed to reach the goal by providing the infrastructures, improving the air fleet, facilitating visa issuance, and training the human resources.
Soltanifar also boasted the situation of his country in different areas of tourism having the capacity for attracting pilgrims, serving health clients, and entertaining people interested in nature, culture and history.
Saying that Iran has attracted many visitors from its neighboring countries, Soltanifar reiterated that Iran is planning to get massive tourists inflow from all over the world.

The total area of this complex is about 250 hectares; 130 hectares across the lake, and the rest of it goes for the coastal zone and resorts.
Soltanifar stressed that Iran values bilateral relationships with neighbors especially those sharing the same historical wealth and great commonalities.
Referring to Iran-Sextet agreement of July 14, Soltanifar restated Iran’s administration’s policy of dialogue and interaction with the whole world adding that the moment was the time to develop ties with Iran.
