5 lakh Indians work illegally

India inside Bangladesh

Can anyone do a survey how many Indian organisations are working in Bangladesh? I think the number will be unbelievable. Because from Indian terrorist to CEO, Indian cook to top Diplomats are now very much available in Dhaka city. As per my knowledge concerned, the organisations from other countries must abide by the laws and customs of the host country. But what is the actual scenario of those Indian organisations working in Bangladesh? The common among them is that most of the Indian management seems that they are in India. And they behave in the way that they are our masters and we are slaves! As a result what is happening is that Muslims become 'minority' population and that Indian organisations become 'mini-India' inside Bangladesh. I am trying to give here some information regarding State Bank of India, working in Bangladesh since 1974.

1. The top management of State Bank of India comprises BJP activists. So, they are used to harassing and torturing the Muslim community by attacking religious sentiment.
2. The ratio of Hindu-Muslim staffs has been raised from 60:40 to 70: 30.
3. Muslims who offer Namaj are always treated as laggards and they are deprived in case of promotion, increment and other facilities.
4. As the top management lives in Bangladesh without their family and the Hindu staffs suppose State Bank of India as their organisation, they come on holidays (even Friday) and make others to work on holidays.
5. It is surprising that State Bank of India offers no festival bonus and no other bonuses
except one yearly bonus.
6. The situation in this Indian Bank is that even when the people go for Namaj during Johor and Maghrib, they are scolded in the way that they will not be allowed to leave before 8-9 PM. at night.
7. As the Hindus feel comfort to be in the bank premise as they seem like they are in their homeland, they with the inspiration of the management stay at office from 8.00 AM to 9.00 PM everyday. That is why the authority is ignoring the direction of the Central Bank and internal-external auditors to recruit enough staffs for different sections of the bank to lower the workload of each employee.
8. In recent recruitments of 14 staffs only 4 are Muslims. Is it possible that among the candidates only the Hindu are the most talented in the recruitment test of State Bank of India? Is this the true picture of the country?

The most important and dangerous matter is that the State Bank of India has opened three more branches in the last four years and is about to open another three branches in different places of the country. What is the main reason of the Indians to expand their bank businesses in Bangladesh? I want to alert the conscious people of the country to be aware of any kind of conspiracy against the country. At the same time we want the concerned authority of Bangladesh Bank to take a close look at State Bank of India to wipe out the malfunctioning of some Indian organisations including the State Bank of India, operating in the country.

Doesnt this idiot realize that there is a difference of work culture?
SBI(state bank of india) though in a foreign country is still an Indian company and so its top management anywhere in the world will be Indian and will "like" to work like in india.
Does this idiotic writer realize that those working in sbi will mostly be staff in india on deputation there? and it exists mostly because to tap into indian businesses in bangladesh. Its main customer base is not bangladeshi (though in bangladesh) but indians in bangladesh. Which means they will try to run sbi in bangladesh as close as possible as sbi is run in India.

if they dont get it, my parents consider the itvity people in india as one of the laziest group, because they dont work on saturdays.

and the most beautiful part of it
they are used to harassing and torturing the Muslim community by attacking religious sentiment.

Wow I never knew one can do torture, like hitting/pulling on finger nails, hanging one by his hair- such stuff in a bank. Wow!!!!!!!

This will count as one of the whiniest articles I have ever seen as Marathaman said.

for point 8, probably because it was an indian bank and so will not be an islamic bank like other banks in bangladesh, so the cream of the muslims didnt apply there?

7) Obviously when working on deputation far away from your bank, you dont have friends there and so your only consolation will be working. having higher employee productivity is wrong for this fellow, wow!
6) So you want to go and offer namaz and not wanting to work late to compensate that??
5)Indian banks offer what are called festival advances not bonuses. Bonuses come only at the end of year for very good profits, not because you have come to the job.

4)If there is work, you have to work even on holidays or quit the job, bast*rd.

3)When you leave work/custumers standing in the queue for namaz, the bosses would not want to say directly to you, but it sure leaves a bad taste.

A cheap, third class commie... Never knew there are commies in bd too.

An MNC's work culture is different from the local company work culture always. It requires some adjustment on the part of both the MNC and the employee. If the MNC adjusts itself, it will give the same salaries as the local company. If the employee wants higher pay, he has to adjust himself. No two ways about it.

The coming of MNC call centres, the companies was a big shock in Indian employees too. For example, Indians were not accustomed to working on deadlines etc, etc. We have changed, so have they.

.
With globalisation, the work culture has totally changed in India and late hours have become normal.

It is very stupid a thing to happen no doubt since family life has become negligible and the stress factor high. But then, it is what the MNC in India demand and also gets and the Indian companies are following suit.

Religion is not allowed to come in the way. Whereas in the earlier days, one looked forward to these religious breaks, the MNCs while pretending to give a holiday still expects the workers to be there at their desks on that day.

I reckon, this work culture is also being taken to wherever the Indian companies are touching base.

Even the Communist trade unions have been kicked into oblivion a most extraordinary happening considering that the Central govt is backed by the Left and survives because of the Left!

India is a totally changed scene and there are hardly any industrial strikes which used to be the norm in the earlier days and not the exception!

Its a simple fact, when people try to cross into India, they get shot. Its very very simple.
I can understand the action against the crossings but what about the killings of civilians near the border when they aren't crossing the border?More people died on our side of the border than on the Indian side and not while attempting to cross, that's my concern.

Crackdown on illegal foreign workers intensifies

The Board of Investment (BoI) has intensified crackdown on foreign workers staying illegally in Bangladesh following the recent spate of bomb blasts across the country."The BoI with the help of police personnel is now actively searching the foreigners who are overstaying here in order to ensure national security," a senior BoI official told the FE Tuesday. He said the concerned law enforcing agencies are pushing the foreigners out if found staying in the country illegally.

Bomb blasts by the militants have already killed nearly 30 people in Bangladesh last month. During their hunt on illegal foreign workers, special branch detectives are also investigating whether they have any links with the recent bombings or not, the BoI official said.

Police sources said, foreign workers mostly of Asian countries especially of India, China, Nepal and the Philippines are now working in Bangladesh with various multinational companies, factories in the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and established local business firms. They usually stay in Gulshan, Baridhhara, Banani, Uttara and EPZ areas in Dhaka. Some also get themelves involved with various anti-social and anti-national and activities during their stay here, it was alleged.

Police said in one such drive they recently detected two Chinese girls - Bizhen and Lingna - and sent them back to their own countries.During their stay in Dhaka these girls, who are sisters, were involved in anti-social activities, police alleged. They said the Chinese girls came here identifying themselves as recruited workers of a Taiwanese company in Dhaka.

Many Indians are also overstaying here arranging jobs of high salaries with different information and communication technology (ICT) firms, police alleged.

How to manage foreigners working illegally in Bangladesh

Is there large number of foreign workers working illegally in Bangladesh? That is very surprising. Who are those foreign workers, why they are in Bangladesh and what sorts of works they do? Wages in Bangladesh are low and quality of live is poor and how and why foreign workers legally or illegally heaped-up there?

In Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries on earth and 152.6 million people cramped in a small space of 143998 sq km, have many foreign workers. But it is very true that there are many foreign workers in Bangladesh and most of them working illegally.

These foreign workers in Bangladesh, again, are mostly from India. They run hair-cuting salons, small businesses of all sorts, jewellery shops, small scale trading, smuggling and 'Hundi' (the most lucrative business). They are not only in Bangladesh but in many countries of the world. Most of them come to Bangladesh just by crossing the boarders and return home now and then the same way. The other day there was a news item in Bangladeshi newspapers stating that there are "5 lakh Indians work illegally in Bangladesh and "Dhaka is to raise the issue at a home secretary-level meeting in New Delhi" sometime soon as if Indian government sent those people with special permission to work/serve in Bangladesh and Bangladesh must deal with the mater with Indian authority face to face. It is unfortunate that our government and bureaucrats often say things that do not make any sense.

In Bangladesh where millions of people are without job and they really lack a breathing space. These foreigners come illegally to take-up jobs and other meagre facilities that are available and which Bangladeshi people badly need for their own survival and to increase their wellbeing. Actually, small businesses and private sector jobs are the backbone of any economy and it is in these sectors largest numbers of people are employed in every country. Invading Bangladesh by Indian workers not only means job loss for Bangladeshi people but some sort of economic back-truck and stagnation too. The most detrimental effect of this situation is that, some wealth is siphoned out of the country by these foreign citizens and, Bangladesh economy does not get any impetus which could occur if foreigners would have spent their earnings in Bangladesh.

Tax evasion is another serious problem. One can, however, point out that many Bangladeshi also work in India and India faces the same disadvantages what Bangladesh is complaining about But there is a difference. Bangladeshi illegal workers in India are mostly domestic helpers and workers in agricultural fields and in very few cases, helping hands in small shops and offices of Indian small private business houses. All these people, legal or illegal arrivals from Bangladesh, and Nepal, India very badly needs due to her booming economy. Again, India tolerates these illegal workers for that very reason. Illegal workers from Bangladesh or Nepal are a much needed impetus for Indian economy whereas such worker from India in Bangladesh is a burden of Bangladesh's poor economy.

No Indian domestic helpers or agricultural labourer comes to Bangladesh for work. Now the question is, why raising this issue at high home secretary level meeting in India instead of taking "proper step" to discourage foreigners coming to Bangladesh for work, legally or illegally? This "proper step" is very simple and one need not seek Scotland Yards' help to find it out and an action to stop it

I have, for last 4/5 years, writing in public media suggesting for identity card for every citizen in Bangladesh. Identity card is an important tool to detect an individual, local or foreigner. Bangladesh could avoid many of her problems if she could introduce a national identity card for each and every citizen. Organizing Identity Card for the whole population may be difficult, time consuming and costly (NOT really, considering the benefit it could bring) for poor and inefficient Bangladesh administration but Identity Card for each and every employee, from factory worker to prime minister, should not be that difficult to organize. Cost could be borne by employers in many cases and government need not spend a Taka except that it is watched carefully and monitored properly.

Along with obligatory Identity card for employees, each and every organization, big or small, must be registered with the government's Patent and Registration department Even a vegetable seller must have an identity card indicating his trade and a trade licence number and it must be registered with the Patent and Registration department

The identity card could help the country to find out the exact number of people employed and where they live and where they come from. Carrying this identity card should be also obligatory so that any suspicious person can be challenged and one can find out who he/she is and where the person is living and working. Showing this Identity Card for renting out flats or rooms should also be obligatory and it must be always registered in a record by the landlord. List of the people with photographs should be kept hanged on the wall at each and every working place, whether it is an office, factory or a barber shop, for national security people to check anytime and whenever they like. Every employee or self-employed person, including even a rickshaw-puller, must be registered and must have an identity card.

And finally, every working person must be registered with tax department and if and when that working person is a foreign national, he/she must be registered even with the police. Most importantly, every foreign worker must have a work and residence permit, obtained from Bangladesh embassy in his/her own country and before he/she comes and starts working in Bangladesh.

Working without work and residence permit should be considered a criminal offence and punishable by law. That is how many developed Western countries manage and control illegal foreign workers. This action may appear draconian and seems very unkind and troublesome but should not Bangladesh introduce it for the greater interest of the nation?

. . . . .
So that there is no cross border infiltration from either side.
It would have been better if BD and India both contributed to this fence, and built it on the zero line.Oh I forgot there are still some undemarcated land.
don't think all Indians came through the borders.BD governments have always kept mum about illegal Indians in BD because they knew there are illegal Bangladeshis in India. So if India starts deporting these illegal immigrants,BD govt maybe encouraged to do so.
