I cannot say about others but my close friend went in Iran few months ago and he said he found people very arrogant and rude. They did not even bother to say a word and totally ignored him when he asked for direction and did not even got glass of water until he paid for it May be other peoples had different experience.

How friendly you are with people of different nations vary from one person to another person. Not all Canadians are welcoming and not all English hate guests

I would say Thai people are among the absolute friendliest people on earth. They should just start to treat their muslim minority a bit better in the south.
