No, India withholds the water and let it flow towards its Calcutta port. But, I wonder why that port needs water from the Ganges. Indians there have probably built a fish harbour. They really needs some extra proteins, though.

Thanks.

I eat Padma Ilish because I want nutrition.

I pay in Indian Rs that is way higher than the Taka as per the exchange rate.

By your logic, my money helps lift Bangaldesh from poverty and that is why they can show progress!

cool yourself by reading a poem :offtopic:

Your parents used to eat two or three pieces of Hilish each time they ate in their east Bengal. Now, they have left their ancestral home for no reason, and you may or may not get a half piece of Hilsha each time you eat. Also, when you hear from your parents how plentiful Hilisha was in their country of origin, you smile, make a face and disbelieve them. The reality is, it is true what they say about their time, but, it is a little less true in today's east Bengal.

By the way, how about your Hilisha fetching in Calcutta fish harbour? Or is it only a name without a fish stock? Talk to your repressive Indian govt to release Ganges water so that we can raise our Hilsha stock and you get a bigger piece of Hilisha when you eat. I have heard the Ghotis there eat small fish fries and boast of eating Hilish. Hope, this boasting disease has not spread to the Bangals as well.

Legend has it, Bagbajar/Shobhabajar er ilish tastes the best, lot better than Padmar ilish. Although ilish don't come upstream in Hoogly anymore.

Rui tastes better than Elish. Also Elish has too many small bones=bone stuck in throat=4 hours in the emergency:cry:

In here, I got to eat Boneless Elish. It was a wonderful experience. I saved a lot of time too which otherwise I would have spent finding and separating hairline bones.

You may be right. I have read somewhere that tasty Hilish was also available in Allahabad many years ago. With changes in ecology and water availability the taste of Hilish may change.

Now-a-days, there is a very little Hilish catch in Goalondo/Padma. It has moved down as ecology has changed due to the reduced flow that we notice today due to the withdrawal of water by the GoI.

darr ke aage jeet hai!

darr is real bro, it did get stuck in my throat, had to go to hospital at 10 at night. Before going to the hospital tried all the home remedies, ate bowl full of plain rice, a whole loaf of bread, a lot of bananas, and couple of litres of coke! nothing worked, had to go to the doctors with my tummy bursting will all those remedial food! Never again, unless of course someone is kind enough to take the bones out for me:lol: Rui and Barramundi does the job otherwise.
