Bagerhat, Dec 24 (UNB) – Members of Bangladesh Navy arrested 44 more Indian fishermen from near Hiron Point of the Bay of Bengal under Mongla upazila on Monday for their illegal intrusion into the Bangladesh maritime boundary. Navy sources said a patrol team arrested the Indian fishermen along with three fishing trawlers while illegally catching fish inside Bangladesh’s water territory of the bay. Huge amount of fishing net and netted fishes were also seized, said M Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Mongla Police Station. Earlier on Friday, Navy arrested 29 other Indian fishermen along with two fishing trawlers for illegally catching fish in the Hiron Point area of the bay. Later, they were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Bagerhat that sent them to jail in two cases.
