Why should they?? Indian fisherman should be taught to respect international boundaries and laws. They cannot go on to other country's waters just bcs there is fish there...its unlawful and the respective countries whose boundaries have been breached has the right to take appropriate actions.
What some of those news emanating from Indian media like TOI fails to mention is that SL authorities never arrest dozens of country boats that also trespass daily from TN.. Simply because it's a livelihood issue.. Even though they too are breaking international law..
Poor TN fishermen cannot afford these multi day trawlers that have already devastated Indian waters.. Those fleets are owned by unscrupulous elements in TN with connections to the highest state politicians.. Katchchateevu is just an excuse these politicians use for their crimes.. The latest arrests were made around Thalaimannar.. No where close to that island well within the territorial waters of SL
