QUETTA: Forty-three militants known as ‘Ferraris’surrendered and laid down arms in Balochistan, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

According to a Frontier Constabulary spokesman, the militants were affiliated with Baloch Republican Army of separatist leader Brahamdagh Bugti.

A commander of the Ferraris said they took the decision because of Brahamdagh Bugti’s connivance with India.

The militants in the so-called ‘Ferrari Camps’ target security forces and national installations, and are known to shift places frequently. Bugti, who is currently in exile in Switzerland, had recently sought asylum in India.

On 14th August 2015, more than 400 militants had surrendered in the presence of now National Security Advisor Lt. Gen (retd) Nasir Janjua.

QUETTA: At least 43 militants surrendered in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan on Tuesday and handed over their weapons to security forces.

A spokesman for Frontier Corps Balochistan said here 43 militants who belonged to banned militant organization, Baloch Republic Army (BRA), has surrendered in a ceremony in Dera Bugti.

“The militants who surrendered have vowed to remain loyal to Pakistan,” he said.

“The militants surrendered to security forces after head of self-exiled Baloch leader, Brahamdagh Bugti applied for asylum in India,” the FC spokesman said.

“Now, we have nothing to do with Brahamdagh Bugti,” they said. He further said FC personnel took stern action against those who snatched livestock from local people, damaged government properties and carried out subversive acts.

“There is no room for those who would be found involved in acts of terrorism,” he said. – SAMAA/AGENCIES

This is great news. They should be rehabilitated and then given jobs after of course they reveal to us their handlers, financers and where the other militants are hiding.

I think this puts the number of surrenders above a thousand. Definitely more than a thousand in total since the end of main operations and control being given to the democratically elected govt of Baluchistan and security to FC and ofcourse the continuous work on development of the province.

The insurgency is dead in the water.

For now...Balochistan has always been a restive province. Peace has made interludes, but militancy will always make a return.

Exaggerated. Was in Balochistan a few months ago and the VAST majority of Baloch just want to get on with their lives and are just as patriotic about Pakistan as other Pakistanis are. CPEC has already started having a positive effect on them. TBH The BLA movement has always mainly been in articles and books. A fairy tale of no substance whatsoever. A non-issue. That's why we have never ever had anything with the BLA or Balochistan like what the indians had with the sikhs in 1984. If anything did happen than the Iranian military would intervene as it is a shared province with Iran. The Iranians have stated this many times.

Not disagreeing with you here. It may not be large scale, but it will return, in smaller form. I remember reading news articles during the 1990s about the Sui gas line being blown up by Baloch militants.

I do agree that both CPEC and Iran will dampen any Baloch militancy. I'm just saying don't totally discount their return.

Numbers of active insurgents in Balochistan are around 1000 or below despite heavy Indian "investment".

Until even one of them is alive... Baluchistan would be vulnerable to insurgency..And what I think the lethal thing is that thinking which India uses as a leverage to ignite the fire.
