Smoke from crackers too keep away flies and mosquitoes. Consider crackers bursting as equivalents of Yagnas. If every household was to do a yagna today on Diwali, there would be 100 times more pollution than you would get from crackers.Which they do anyway. The point was about spreading the message of rediscovering our values.
Of course it does. Cow dung was used for Yagna because it made use of animal waste which itself came from eating pure food.
The burning of the cow dung ensured no plant life was destroyed.
The smoke kept away the flies and mosquitoes, and the fire itself burned with a low heat.
How is that not a guiding principle ? Does it not reflect the Hindu value system ?
