41 Writers Return Indian Award, Cite Climate of Intolerance

Law and order is a state subject and Center has no say in it.

And those awards were given by a committee of writers not by center government.

It is a trend now just because of 'modi hate'

But few returned the awards clearly mentioning that they are disappointed by the central committee's silence on the Gulburgi killing, nothing else which make sense.

My Public Declaration:
I am so much disturbed by what is happening in India today that I am returning the 1st prize tiffin box won by me in the Spoon-Lemon competition in the 4th standard in my school. (Of course I will not return the Rs.100/- cash prize I got... because I already spent that.)
Please don't ask me about the all the religious riots,1984 Sikh massacre, Mumbai Blasts, Kashmiri Pandit holocaust, 26/11 Mumbai attack etc. that happened since I won the prize.
TODAY I badly need publicity as the new generation doesn’t know me. (And I don't need the tiffin box anyway.)

if you read the article, it says that infants can be represented by "next friends" ( parents, in this case ).

it is obvious that these particular sensible parents chose this way to publicize the cause... they want a good world ( and immediate indian society ) for their three children and for other infants... a change from the typical traditional indian parents who have been giving as inheritance to their children a life of middle-class poverty and a idiotic social/political/economic environment.

ganesh festival is celebrated in south india for two weeks with fire-crackers going off even at night and in the rain... how ridiculous is that !!

What is "celebration" ?

A social event ? A cultural event ? a family event ? a personal event ? a National event ? a community event ? All of the above ?

The point is not about what One Cow Slaughter will do or what one cracker will do.

The point is about going back to our roots and celebrating our festivals the Indian / Hindu way.


Ganesh Chaturti was started as a Political event during British Time and Tilak encouraged social, cultural and political mass mobility through thsi event.

The festival was celebrate as a mark of protest, a "disobedience" movement.

Today we have a Hindutva govt. in the center and in many states. What is the point of nuisance now ? IT serves no purpose. We are only cutting our nose to spite the face.


Its time the celebration evolve towards more non polluting forms of celebration. Even non polluting crackers. Sound or smoke etc.

This is our environment, we live in it. Our children grow up in it. The is the only nation and planet we have got.



I had made a point of Yagna's being conducted by burning Cow dung earlier. The same principles apply.
