41 Writers Return Indian Award, Cite Climate of Intolerance

.
Welcome back let's take down Sanghis one by one like good old days

Sanghis are going down on their own. I mean, an army of dumb people don't need to be taken down, they'll go down on their own. And thanks for the welcome :)

.
1) why did these writers did not resign when a pastors hands were chopped because he wrote something about the prophet in kerala which has a congress govt?

2) why did these writers did not return when the owaisis party and other Muslim parties threatened taslima nasreen in Calcutta to murder her and threw chairs on her?

that was a mistake, i agree.

3) why did the writers did not return the awards when a Hindu girl was thrown out of a running train by Muslim boys in Mysore?

now what spin is this??

source please.

4) why did they not return their award seeing the plight of farmers who are committing suicide ?

farmers are suiciding because of india's environment of extreme capitalism and ridiculous social system... some of the writers you refer to would recommend india's radical change into a socialist system, which will turn india into a zero-suicide society.

What is "celebration" ?
A social event ? A cultural event ? a family event ? a personal event ? a National event ? a community event ? All of the above ?
The point is not about what One Cow Slaughter will do or what one cracker will do.
The point is about going back to our roots and celebrating our festivals the Indian / Hindu way.
Ganesh Chaturti was started as a Political event during British Time and Tilak encouraged social, cultural and political mass mobility through thsi event.
The festival was celebrate as a mark of protest, a "disobedience" movement.
Today we have a Hindutva govt. in the center and in many states. What is the point of nuisance now ? IT serves no purpose. We are only cutting our nose to spite the face.
Its time the celebration evolve towards more non pollution forms of celebration. Even non polluting crackers. Sound or smoke etc.
This is our environment, we live in it. Our children grow up in it. The is the only nation and planet we have got.
I had made a point of Yagna's being conducted by burning Cow dung earlier. The same principles apply.

Since the time i grew up in India and the time before, Diwali and many other festivals has been celebrated in one way only. I don't mind non polluting crackers, but sound, singing, dancing is part of how we have celebrated out festivals. Its not going to change, it only happens few times an year. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Even, Americans calibrate holy far better than we do...

"Americans" might be your standard. Not Mine. I have much higher standards.

Congress ruled India might be your standard, not mine. I hold the promise of Ram Rajya India to a much higher standard.

You can have sound, singing, dancing etc. Who is opposing that ? Sound pollution is when the noise exceeds a certain level and time limit.

I am also for a complete ban on loud speakers used in mosques. If they want to shout, let them shout without the mike.

My Standard ? do you not even understand the meaning of the posts that you read ? Who will decide what noise pollution is ? When my family see's saah bahu serials i consider it as noise pollution too..

There is absolutely nothing wrong in celebrating openly, a little noise, song, crackers and dance does not hurt when it is done once/twice an year.

incident of july 26 2012

incident of molestation was reported from Karnataka where a 19-year-old girl was thrown out of a moving train by her alleged assaulters for resisting their move.
The incident took place near Maddur on Tuesday. The victim was pushed out of the Yeshwantpur-Mysore Express while it was passing over the Kolli bridge on the Shimsha river. Fortunately, the girl fell onto the dry river bed about 25 feet below and she survived with multiple injures on her head, backbone and legs and she is out of danger. Had she fallen on the rocky surface or the bridge, her injury could have been fatal.

The standards of pollution is already set by WHO....... also by the Central Pollution Control Board, GoI.

The standards for celebration is guided by our religious morals, ethics, values and scriptures.

Who are you to decide it "does not hurt" ? who are you to decide it can be done once/twice or even 10 times a year ?

You don't get to decide.

Sure, then lets use crackers which do not pollute ?

The standards for celebration is guided by our religious morals, ethics, values and scriptures.

What is this nonsense ? Mind giving me quotes, references

Who are you to decide it "does not hurt" ? who are you to decide it can be done once/twice or even 10 times a year ?
You don't get to decide.

And who are you to decide how one should celebrate ? who are you to impose your values on others ? What right do you have to tell Indians what they should or should not do ? The Majority will decide and if people come out to openly celebrate on the streets there is nothing you can do other than sulk..

.
Sure, then lets use crackers which do not pollute ?

The sky is the limit. There are a millions ways to celebrate without pollution.

What is this nonsense ? Mind giving me quotes, references

I just did with the cow dung example. Learn to read and understand what you read.

And who are you to decide how one should celebrate ? who are you to impose your values on others ? What right do you have to tell Indians what they should or should not do ?

I have as much right as any India to make my point heard.

The deciding factor however is the LAW. So as long as the law is followed and not flouted there is no legal issues.

However moral and ethical issues still remain. That is what is decide by our value systems.

.
Hindu way ? whats the point in celebrating if one can't celebrate ? it only happens once an year let the people enjoy, as for the whole pollution thing ? Don't we have enough cars polluting the cities everyday ? what difference will a night of crackers make ?

Exactly. Let all those complaining of pollution give away their cars and travel by public transport.

sure and let them celebrate which ever way they want

I just did with the cow dung example. Learn to read and understand what you read.

That really does not answer my question

lol and i don't ? again who decides the morals and ethics ? Everyone has their own set of morals and ethics. In the end Majority will decide. you are free to try to influence them, but not force them

.
Why ? there are laws that govern PUC.

There are no laws banning crackers either. It is a part and parcel of our celebrations. Cars were not there during Vedic times, so you can choose to go walking or using a horse back if you are so desirous of going back to the roots.

.
sure and let them celebrate which ever way they want

Which they do anyway. The point was about spreading the message of rediscovering our values.

That really does not answer my question

Of course it does. Cow dung was used for Yagna because it made use of animal waste which itself came from eating pure food.

The burning of the cow dung ensured no plant life was destroyed.

The smoke kept away the flies and mosquitoes, and the fire itself burned with a low heat.

How is that not a guiding principle ? Does it not reflect the Hindu value system ?

lol and i don't ? again who decides the morals and ethics ? Everyone has their own set of morals and ethics. In the end Majority will decide. you are free to try to influence them, but not force them

 .... If that was the case a rapist will decide that raping minors is moral and ethical. A murderer will decide that murder for profit is acceptable  ............ anyting goes as long as you are not caught by the law. :cheesy:

Then what is the point of Dharma ?
