41 Islamabad seminaries to be shut during military parade - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: At least 41 seminaries are to remain closed in Islamabad during the March 23 military parade for security reasons, DawnNews reported.

The decision to close the seminaries was taken by the Additional Deputy Commissioner and other security officials.

Police stations within the jurisdiction of the 41 seminaries have been instructed to enforce the closure.

They include 18 seminaries of Police Station I-9, 14 of Abpara Police Station, 6 of Shahzad Town and 3 from Secretariat Police station.

Sources said the seminaries will be shut from 18th till 24th March.

All seminaries should be closed and in their place proper islamic institutes should be built from where the students will get a proper degree recognized by HEC.
Seminaries concept is from 1990s and it is draging us back into them.

O Bhai jan yehi tou mein keh raha hoon, be it be for a VIP or for normal national like you and me the security must be same for every one, if they can temporarily shut it down why not permanently? Is our blood is so cheap to let us butchering by them?

Parade is not for military only. Great number of civilians spectators would also attend it.

At an rate, time has come to shut down all freakin madrassas and turn them into modern Islamic institutions of learning operating under the watchful eyes of regulatory authorities.

This does not make any sense. If they are a threat then closing them for 6 days and keeping them open for 359 days of the years is the biggest law breach of all times. These seminaries need to be regulated on an emergency basis and the law needs to enforced 24*7 and all year round. Temporary closures for 6 days is not the fix.

Agreed with you on 2nd para, make it useful rather than waste it, my concern was if they can see it's a threat deal with it on permanent bases not for an occasion. May be I'm harsh but it's seems to me like in a gali(street) you have few mad dogs and put them in a cage for few hours coz VIPs gone through from here and let them release again when the pass over to bite again residents.

That is what the Police is for. It is Police's responsibility to maintain law-and-order. If Police is not doing its job, we should question bastard politicians, who are using the Police as their personal servants, and not the Army.
