Today, 20 August, is the 40th Death Anniversary of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed.
He on commissioned on 13 March, 71' during the 51 GD(P) Course.
As we all are aware, on August 20 he was preparing his T-33 trainer, taxiing it for take off in Karachi (PAF Base Masroor), when his East Pakistani (Bangaldeshi) Instructor Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman, made his way to the rear of the plane. During the flight, he knocked out Pilot Officer Rashid and took control of the plane.
It was prior the 1971 war, and Independence of East Pakistan. It is reported by the Inter-Services-Intelligence, that 1971 was totally inside work to create a misunderstanding and force the people of East Pakistan into creation. Those who have offered resistance to the Mukhti Bahni terrorists (Dressed as Pakistani soldiers), were brutally slaughtered.
Back to the topic, Plt. Off. Rashid Minhas gained conscious, just as they were approaching the border. He contacted the Air Base and informed about the Hijack at 1130 hours. The next thing Pakistan Air Force's personnel knew, was the T-33 crashed 40 KM near the Bharti Border. It is assumed they had a mis-flight chaos and brawl.
Salute to young officer who laid his life for the sake of his motherland. We are proud of you.
