My point is simple..regarding emigration all the ppl of the subcontinent ie Indians , Pakistanis, Bangladeshis are all pretty much in the same boat...

you got ticked off the minute Pakistan was mentioned but certain comments about Indians were substandard and language used was regrettable .

All I am saying is when Pakistanis will post comments like those posted in post 2 , 5 , 6 , 8 then certain Indian will respond tit for tat.

Malaysia plans new visa system for Indian, Chinese tourists

Malaysia is planning to introduce a Visa Facilitation System (VFS) for tourists from India and China. This follows a decision to revoke the Visa on Arrival (VOA) scheme for visitors to Malaysia from several countries. The VOA scheme was discontinued in respect of Indian nationals in 2008.

“Pilot project”

The reason cited by the authorities, including Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, was that thousands among those who arrived from India under the VOA scheme later went “missing.” Chennai was identified as the embarkation point.

The VFS “pilot project,” to be implemented by commissioning travel agencies with branches in select countries, would be an “alternative” to the VOA scheme, according to Malaysian Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen.

For a start, the services of a Hong Kong-based travel agency would be utilised for the VFS pilot project in India, said Dr. Ng.

She was also quoted by Malaysia's national news agency as saying that the project would thereafter be extended to China by the end of the month. Details are not immediately available.

The latest decision not to revive the issuance of visas on arrival was announced on Monday by Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers and Illegal Immigrants. “In the past, we [showed] flexibility … [But] we notice that this VOA was being abused… We [now] agreed that VOA be revoked or discontinued,” Mr. Muhyiddin said.

Well there was a problem it has been solved as far as illegal immigration is concerned its human nature to search for safe pastures to survive so nothing much can be done.

Malaysia should co-ordinate with Indian authorities and strengthen co-operation to check illegal migration.

Trolls aside, Illegal immigration is now a huge problem for whole world. South asian countries (especially India being on larger population side) are one of the biggest migrants in the world. This migration is only because of aspiration to earn ASAP and show off their NRI status wherever. This aspiration is so big that now many countries have migrants of some specific states as well. Canada is now "Sadda Canadda" in Punjab, Middle east is hub for Keralites, US is for Telugus, Gujratis and Tamils, SE countries for Tamils, Australia is for Punjabis etc etc...

This is really difficult now to hold Indian Passport and get visa-on-arrival in many countries because of such incidents.

PS: Malaysian are not only troubled with Indian illegal migrants, they have same problem with Chinese illegal migrants as well.

I doubt the fates of the illegal immigrants in Malaysia will come to any good. There are tons of stories about the migrants literally put to work in sweat shops with no or little pay and they are typically chained or locked into the factories. Also with the widespread corruption among the police force its quite hard for them to seek help when they do want to go back.

Thanks for sharing, I wasn't aware about this. My personal experience is there are 2 types of migrants. Firsts are those who belongs to nice financial background and migrate to other country for studies and later to settle while others are from poor financial background, who collect money to go abroad and earn handsomely. We are discussing here second kind of migrants who normally trespass through Visa channel.

Migration - Malaysia

I've not heard of a lot of illegal immigrants from China to Malaysia (not to say the aren't any) because I believe the pattern of illegal immigration differs from country to country. South Asia illegal immigrants tend to move toward South East Asia and East Asia tend to move toward Oceania / Europe.

Malaysia largest population of illegals are definitely from Indonesia because they speak almost the same language and can easily assimilate in the population.
