Is this a police man or wheat sack ?

really impressive vessel for our cost guard inducting it will enhance its power significantly . i just hope if it could carry small helicopter at rear would be much much helpful for search ans rescue afford .

Somebodies a fan of older women, eh?!? These ships, while serviceable and a good acquisition compared to what-else is floating around the region, are nearly 30 years old!!! I hope BD is getting the ones built in the 90's and not the 80's.

These are good ships, they will be retrofitted with new equipment, they will serve BD very well into the future.

This vessel is for our cost guard .our navy have been operating 40+ and 50+ year old frigate for long which recently scrap compare to this vessel is only 30 years olds but of course if we can get the vessel made in 90S would be nice .

the only chance for Indonesia to invade Andaman and Nicobar is in 1965 while India busy conduct war against Pakistan, at the time we had enough Fleets escort, Air Force, armored brigade and Amphibious landing forces to take on Andaman and Nicobar

Didn't Indonesia try to back then?
I remember reading that they sent a few ships to support Pakistan?

i am talking about future....he/she says they can't do it now
They cant now. Our Military has become rather strong over the years.
Today we can spare a very large number of assets even while fighting a war with a middle sized country like Pakistan.

And consider that the Military wants to expand further - they want the capability to fight an offensive two front war, the second front being China. And GoI has agreed to this, so there will be an unprecedented expansion of the Military in the coming decade.

Though as far as Indonesia is concerned, our cooperation is only growing with time. We share great relations with Indonesia now and it has seeped over to Defense sector as well with Indian pilots training Indonesian pilots on the Su-30 and other associated programs. Today, odds are that Indonesia will diplomatically support us instead of going against us.

from military point of view, that is incorrect

At the time Indonesia communist Party launching their coup, fearing civil war renegade in Indonesia Soekarno relinquish his authority to General Soeharto. But Soekarno indeed has sent a squadron of Submarine fleet (six ships, i am recall) to shadowing Indian Navy movement and he was ordered the Navy armadas, KKO Marines and armies corps who had been prepared to retaking Irian Jaya (West Papua) from Netherlands to consolidating their power and position in Northern Sumatra and Aceh province.

Yes it had been happened in the past, and Indonesia is friend of India right now.

Indeed I am aware of the internal dynamics of Indonesia. My previous post has been edited. Take a moment to go through it again.

Is true, and frankly since 1965, Indonesia rather has been trying to become a pacifist Nation to the extreme even Soeharto ordering to abolished our Bomber Group Wing, reducing the number of fighter squadrons from 20 to 5 squadrons, reducing the Naval fleets from three fleets into two fleets, abolished two Submarine squadrons and just left one till now, abolished AA Missiles brigade defenses, and almost abolishing the formation of Marine forces. Since then Indonesia will never become a much threat for their surrounding neighbors

still wrong, Pakistan is not mid sized military force, it has pretty strong airforce and army, lack in navy though. still it is in top 15 armed forces. u can afford 2 fronts like bd and sri lanka together

Not really. Pakistan for us is only a mid sized military force. For smaller nations, it might appear to be big.

Think of this, most of our new acquisitions are not going to the Pakistani border, they are not being procured to fight with Pakistan. All of it is being deployed in the East for China or South for general capability upgradation. Heck an entire new Strike Corps is being raised now with a cost of over $10 billion and it is not geared for Pakistan.

At just 2% GDP expenditure on our military, Pakistan has ceased to be a viable military threat(military threat means Pakistan's ability to attack India, not defend) except for propaganda purposes by Military to secure more funding from GoI.

The global average of Military spending is 3% of GDP with both China and US exceeding 3%.

The last GoI under Congress was not interested in raising the Military's capabilities dramatically. And the new GoI is quite adamant on increasing the military capabilities exponentially.

Oh and the Indian Military feels that if the GoI supports it (which it is now) it can ensure a two front war with Pakistan and China. So I would leave it to the professionals rather than let an online 'warrior' talk about Lanka and BD.
