Yes but that dont mean its believable. Bd dont have any formal documentation its all speculation. No tax return...no proof of remittance flow...dw might be foreign but reporters are based on Bangladesh. You need to have statistical data to prove any of this. And think about it 100 indian managers in each factory? Also out of 4000 most are not even that big to hire this many management ppl.

Article said 1 lakh Indian works in garment industry at various position not just top but also in many junior positions. So it is very much possible. If Garment industry is employing 5 million people these Indians are occupying 2% of it.

There might be few hundred indians or sri Lankan ppl work in bd but 4.5 lakh in 4000 garments factories??? So there are over 100 indian managers in each factory? Ya sound real.

Indians not only work in garments, but in a lot of other companies. Buying houses, media, entertainment industry is full of Indian folks living in Bangladesh illegally. You haven't been to Bangladesh lately, have you?

no i havent been there. I visited for one week in 2019 after almost 10 years. Before that i was in dhaka in 2009.

i think its bd goverment fault. Without proper data we dont know who is working...how many working...and what they are doing...meaning we dont even know what are the skill shortages? if we knew we could train local people but goverment and our industry have no clue.

Creating data base is not VERY hard job. Goverment can easily do it in a month. But incompetent hasina and gang good for nothing wont even do that.

I have seen that if the BD employers take the initiative to maintain the paperwork for the expats in their organization, the records are maintained. But the processes were paper-based, cumbersome and there were red tapes everywhere. Very likely to deter even the most compliant of the organizations.

So, if the employer does not take any steps to maintain proper paperwork to avoid the hassle, nothing is done by the Government to follow up. So, the expat employees become illegal.

I heard they have digitalized the work permit application process now, which is good. But they need to start monitoring to ensure the system is effective.

Lankan industrialists were pioneers in setting up factories there, Having the experience for two decades before that in the island but because of the civil war being at the height of it's intensity they were looking elsewhere for investments, Dhaka gave them an ideal opportunity with incentives and cheap labour

Did a little bit of online research on this, Apparently anyone leaving for foreign employment need to register with the foreign employment bureau.. How far this is eligible for top level management i'm not sure though

Your post demonstrates you may not have full grasp of actual situation inside Bangladesh (Biharis and Refugees, today and in 1947).

Please ask around and/or educate yourself. You will get your info.
