3d printing piston

This is already old, some tuner like spyros panopoulos is the first person who used 3d printing to design next level pistons. Next should cam and crankshafts or engines. Casting engine block looks limited, what they will design with 3d printing? Engine generatin 5000hp is in the horizon.

Layered manufacturing technologies used even for complex shapes of aerospace applications. In Turkey, TEI and Koç University working on these machines and metal powder to be manufactured locally.

They could insteed of casting PD170 of 220 go print it with alloys to make it stronger. and lighter Better cooling channels in the engine is possible, Ok it will take time to print a engine, imagine a engine is print much better specs would be achievable.

Printed connecting rods from titanium or other metals, you can make a piston engine lighter then before.

Good for tuning etc. but not mass production, here its more important thats its produced fast, cheap and reliable and 3d printing is still far away from that unfortunately.
