372 candidates pass 2019 CSS exam

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced the results of the 2019 CSS written examination, ARY News reported on Thursday.

As many as 14500 candidates appeared in the examination out of which only 372 passed the written exam.

The pass percentage of the exam was 2.56%.


From next year, the Central Superior Services (CSS) aspirants would now first undergo a necessary screening test before being permitted to take the competitive examination.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had already approved the screening test decision.

One of Pakistan failure the incompetent bureaucracy we need specialists to run the departments should be on the the bases of contract service should remain on job on the bases of performance.How a raw graduate could be secretary finance having no specialization in finance We should get rid of this service

Thank God CSS didn't lower their bar and didn't select non-deserving candidates. Pakistan already has enough of ineligible people sitting on valuable chairs - so better not recruit more of those.

it should be on open merit at least for PSP and PAS.

if a doctor or engineer can get higher score in subjects such as IR and Pol science then they are better then those with masters in those subjects.

The CSS exams requires candidates to apply the knowledge they have learnt, rather then just copy paste memorized notes. They want the candidates to do some critical thinking for their answers. I have seen it so many times, candidates just copy paste paragraphs after paragraphs without actual see what the question is asking for. This is the main reason, lot of CSS candidates fail. Lack of critical thinking.

For such a low pass percentage, bot the candidates and the exam setters must take stock of what they are doing wrong. Such failure cannot be one-sided.

They can't hire everyone that's why failure percentage is high same is the case with army

Right now these are 372 idealists thinking they can do some good and bring change but most of them will be turned into corrupt conformists with the passage of time by the colonial bureaucracy. That is the reality of our system. In order for this system to improve, it needs to be flatlined and revived anew.

I more or less agree with your post expect the part where you assumed that a raw graduate becomes a Finance Minister. It takes 20-25 years of service with 5-10 years of service in the finance ministry before someone is even considered for such an important position.

Nevertheless, I agree that we should have specialists serving all the critical posts rather then generic 'jack of all master of none' tradesmen.

What is the annual requirement for new inductees in CSS? A few hundred? It is likely to be far more than that, and pass percentages this low will only exacerbate the shortage of personnel.

Bringing in the Army as an example here is irrelevant.

Govt basically opened 372 seats and top 372 people are selected, the rest are considered failed. I personally know people who passed earlier and failed this time.

A mason can not become civil engineer after 25 year working

it should be on open merit at least for PSP and PAS.

if a doctor or engineer can get higher score in subjects such as IR and Pol science then they are better then those with masters in those subjects.
Select from specialists not from raw people you will not like to be operated by a raw person having good knowledge in surgery but with out degree in surgery

To be honest every candidate knows their ability appearing is not same as passing CSS. Student knows what they are capable of an are they css passed material. Student should not be discourage and look for skills inside them.
