I not think kashmir struggle will continue for long if india is able to crush resistance by killing and displacing large no of kashmiris and this is undergoing now after kashmiri struggle become weak they will settle hindu families and proindian Muslims in iok and then carry out referendum which will legalise their control over kashmir
This is why the Kashmirs under Indian Occupation need to demand elections now, to elect an assembly to represent them. At first this may seem like they are capitulating to the Indians and accepting their rule, but with an elected assembly, they can claim to be the legitimate voice of the Kashmiri people. They can collectively declare independence and seek international recognition. The Polish Solidarity movement is one way of peacefully dragging out a freedom struggle, for nearly 10 years in Poland's case, under occupation for ten years until the occupier is weakened by other circumstances and local resistance to quit and leave.
The threat of Indians moving in is real, but Kashmiris have to stand united to prevent any of them from selling out their land to Indians or else they will be ostracized, if it is the collective will of the Kashmir people to throw off the Indian Yoke. refusing to serve the indian colonists with any services, refusing to talk to them or sell anything to them or any other ways of normal interaction will create animosity. They need to not feel welcome. Indians can not be allowed to take for granted that they can impose their will without the people resisting. similar to how the french refused or minimize interactions with the Germans when they were under occupation, during WW2.
In the mean time they need to keep the pressure up with public displays of active civil disobedience, that can be aired world wide in the media. wearing protest clothes and colors. Flying hundreds if not thousands of flags or kites with freedom slogans is another way. Graffiti on prominent walls. obstructing the ability of the occupiers from carrying on "business as usual". The Indians with their egos will over stretch and the atrocities they commit will expose them. Its poetic to use Gandhian methods against the BJP.
Pakistan on its part will keep up the Kashmir issue on the world stage. Kashmiris, Pakistanis, and Sikhs aroudn the world can create massive rallies around the world to protest as they plan to do in Houston tomorrow. Even throwing concerts to raise awareness world wide can be a way to get generally apathic people around the world to recognize your struggle, at least until you make some progress on it. Remember Kony 2012, bring back our girls, Darfur, Blood Diamonds, and other causes that focused world attentions through various PR campaigns. we need to study these PR campaigns and use similar methods and PR companies to spread the word, in as many nations as possible.
A military struggle is also draining on our economy. We need to built up our economy if we are to follow up on any Kashmiri freedom movement with concrete opportunities for the Kashmiri people once they are free. Our economy needs to be growing and steady, for the reluctant amongst the Kashmiri population to feel they can also have a prosperous future if they joined Pakistan, and didn't just become independent.
