Reality is that nation is bankrupt. You need to reset relations with the Americans, get off FATF, and get a decent IMF deal. If economic situation isn't handled soon, you won't have money to buy fuel, food or pay salaries for army, police, bureaucracy etc. Good luck fighting India at that point. Afghanistan is rapidly descending into a civil war after the failure of Taliban, and terrorism is on the rise again in Pakistan. You may need to intervene in Afghanistan. This requires political will and stability in Pakistan. That is not going to happen when you are throwing everyone in jail. I hate to say it but NRO over tax dodging is a small price to pay. You need improved relations with GCC & China as well. Where is all the investment/industry that was supposed to arrive in phase 2?

Yes. Country needs dollars. No country can run without a money, and a functioning/health economy. State had to act, so it did. Otherwise, Pakistan would have collapsed. China can help you with weapons but not economic matters. If they could help you, this would never have happened. We can always change our foreign policy once our economy is better.

I wouldn't be surprised if IK was thrown out because of his pacifist and appeasing Afghan policy. Even Asad Umar was saying a few days ago that we shouldn't interfere/intervene in Afghanistan.

Stupid move by Pakistan establishment. Would it be better for Pakistan to send IK a Pushtun to visit Afghanistan and sort out this mess or Shabaz Sharif a Punjabi Elite. IK had power in KPK and a delegation of tribal elders could have gone with him to make the case stronger.
