What's new

3 new deals inked to boost firepower of special forces

Yeah they are SO secretive (this is why I didn't reply back to your message, because I barely know anything!) that the GoI/MoD/IA don't even acknowledge their existence, but I have heard that not only MARCOs and PARA (SF) but also IAF Garuds are attached to SG as part of their 2.5 year long training (I have heard from people who have spoken to Garuds they say that field deployments are an actual module in their training and that they serve in J&K for 6-8 months and serve along with PARA (SF) and "other" SFs of India so I can only assume they serve together in SG in sort of a JSOG who specilise in hunting down terrorist scum!

Good to know about the IAF Garuds. They need to see action as they are a newly raised force. My friend who was an ex RR told me that he has seen the Garuds and Marcos in the Army Battle School in Kashmir(which is the school every soldier has to train in before deployment to Kashmir)

And this Special Group would be any special operatives dream unit man.We can only guess from here as to what operations they do,what equipments they have, whats their strength etc.

You said it pal, whilst we'd love to know everything about this unit, maybe it is better that some things remain secretive and unknown.

Why is the military importing so many different types of weapons systems?

Wouldnt the TVAOR do the job? At least with the TAVOR there is no new training or logistics involved.

Well tradtionally they did but these days the situation is changing and these guys are getting good kit to meet their specific roles. Down the road (1-3 years) Ghataks are going to get comparable to SF including new modular light weight body armour, new assualt rifles, new carbines (the first post actually points this out), new communication gear etc etc
