Three militants and a Policeman were killed and two Security Force (SF) personnel were injured in an encounter between SFs and the militants in Kralpora forests in the Kupwara District on September 26, reports Daily Excelsior. The militants had infiltrated into the Kralpora forest area of Kupwara where SFs launched a major operation against them. The encounter was still going on till the reports last came in.

Meanwhile, a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant shot and injured a youth in Sopore area of Baramulla District. Police later identified the militant as Muzaffar Ahmad Naiko alias Muza Moulvi.

On September 25, Police arrested two LeT militants and the driver of their vehicle at Khirram in Anantnag District. Police said the cab in which the militants were travelling was signaled to stop but the driver tried to flee. The Policemen opened fire in which the driver, Nissar Ahmad Laway, and one of the militants, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, were injured. The duo and another militant, Abdul Hamid Bhat alias Zulfikar, were arrested while another militant Sajad Ahmad Bhat alias Gowhar managed to escape, said Police. Two pistols, two hand grenades and some ammunition were recovered from the possession of the arrested militants.

SFs on September 26 arrested a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militant, identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar alias Abrarul Islam, along with his two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) at Samboora in the Pampore area of Pulwama District. Police said one of the trios, who were travelling in a car, attempted to lob a grenade towards the Police party when they were asked to stop. Police said one AK rifle, three AK magazines, 120 AK rounds, one pouch, one pistol, one pistol magazine, six pistol rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

In Srinagar, SFs neutralized a militant hideout in Nishat area on September 25. The recoveries made from the hideout included two hand grenades, one UBGL grenade, two radio sets with antennae, two AK magazines, 48 AK rounds, 79 pistol rounds and four pouches.

Meanwhile, All Party Hurriyat Conference-Geelani Hurriyat Conference (APHC-G) on September 27 alleged that 70 per cent Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) leadership was serving detention in different prisons since 2010 mass agitation, according to Greater Kashmir. The APHC-G spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement said, “70 per cent of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leadership is detained in jails since 2010.” The amalgam has expressed serious concern over the continued detention of the TeH senior leaders, Muhammad Yousuf Fallahi and Peer Saifullah.
