3 killed, 4 injured in Karachi blast near imambargah

KARACHI: At least three people were killed and four sustained injuries in a rickshaw blast in Orangi Town, Karachi, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Sources said the blast took place near an imambargah.

DIG West Javed Odho confirmed to The Express Tribune that the blast has occurred in a rickshaw. However, the nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.

Bomb Disposal Squad has reached the spot.

Police and rescue officials are also present in the area. Dead and injured have been shifted to hospital.

On November 18, two people were killed and more than a dozen sustained injuries in an explosion near an imambargah in Abbas Town, Karachi.

The explosives were planted on a motorcycle.

Succesive blasts near Karachi Imambargah; at least two dead


KARACHI: A second successive bomb exploded Wednesday near a Shia Imambargah in Karachi where an explosion about half an hour earlier had killed at least two people.

The second explosion ripped close to the same location as police personnel and TV reporters were present at the site of the first blast.

The nature of the second blast and resulting casualties could not be ascertained as yet.

About half an hour earlier, a bomb planted in a motorcycle ripped through the neighbourhood near the Imambargah in Orangi Town area, killing at least two people and injuring three, police said.

“We have also found a body which might have been a suicide bomber, although it can not be confirmed yet,” DIG West Karachi Javed Odho had said, speaking about the first blast.

This looked more political ever since muharram started rehman malik has been shouting too much that shut mobiles and bikes. and what happens two attack happen on bikes in a city were blasts havent happened in a long time. ttp normaly does suicide attacks. this was not a suicide attack. on top of it all after all the security what was this lapse. seems like malik only wanted to prove a point. on top of it all if this keeps happening the govt might opt for delay elections keeping themselves in power for another year. seriously between politics and terrorism i dont know what is going on.

this ones look political whenever ttp somes they come in trucks with enough explosive to destroy an entire area bcz they try to make a point. these explosions were smaller on bikes. why is it that when rehman malik says no to bikes and everyone is syaing its stupid attacks on bike happen. it seems this attempt is to

2. to delay elections. tehy will say how can we have elections when something like this is happening

And this isn't the first time that successive bombings have been done. Before something like this happened, a low intensity bomb to gather the people, and then a bigger one afterwards.

These Jalsas and processions should be kept to a minimum, and only on the 10th/9th Muharram IMO, as before. Now, starting from 1st, there are processions round the clock in one form of the other. People should understand the precarious security situation.

Blast heard near Imambargah in Rawalpindi

Initial reports suggest there are casualties. Electricity within the vicinity of the area in which the explosion was heard has reportedly gone.

The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital. However, due to heavily populated area rescue workers were reported to be having difficulties.

The Misrial Road area was put on high alert by the authorities during the Muslim holy month of Muharram.
