WHAT HAPPENED TO DEATH PENALTY?

Almost no one actually gets sentenced to death anymore! Even the hugest corrupt officials get death with 2 years suspension which is 99% guarenteed to turn into life in prison. Ever since 2007, the Supreme People;s Court must personally approve every death sentence.

Only the worst criminals such as Yao Jiaxin, who had a traffic accident, victim survived, tried to memorize his license plate number, he saw, and killed her with a knife, are executed, but due to the size of our country, there are hundreds of drug dealers and serial killers caught every year. And even they're not executed sometimes:

Only a hardcore mouthpiece for the government can say that with a straight face...

LONDON (Reuters) — China is believed to have put to death thousands of people in 2010, the human rights group Amnesty International said Monday. The estimate dwarfs the number of recorded executions in other countries, which the group says dropped from 714 in 2009 to at least 527 last year.

The group said, as it has in past years, that China, which classifies executions as state secrets, was thought to have executed far more people than the rest of the world combined. At least 23 countries carried out judicial executions in 2010, four more than the previous year, Amnesty said in its annual report on the death penalty, which it wants abolished.

527 is nothing. Compare per capita:

I want just as badly as you do for execution rates to increase but its not happening with corruption and new laws designed to limit the death penalty.
