S. Korean PM urges special care to keep public safe during Lunar New Year

For the Korean, Mid auturm festival is more important for family reunion than Lunar New Year. They have 3 day leave, that's all. In the meantime, many people take annual leave during Mid Autumn festival so that they can have a full 9 day leave.

Do Chinese, Vietnamese and Koreans share the same culture and festivals?

Why Japan stopped celebrating Lunar New Year

During the Meiji Restoration (in 1872, to be exact), the government issued a proclamation to switch the calendar to the new calendar.

One of the reasons why the old new year was abandoned in favor of the new calendar in Japan is that Japan was actively embracing Western culture during the Meiji Restoration. At that time, Japan was trying to Westernize itself by abolishing its customs and traditions. In those days, Westernization was the same as modernization.

After the Meiji period, when the Gregorian calendar was adopted, the old Lunar New Year was still celebrated in some places in Japan. However, after World War II, it was consolidated into the Gregorian calendar and as of now, except in Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture, there are only a few shrines, temples, and local events related to the Lunar New Year.

You can considered it as ancient India and its cultural influence stretch to South east Asia.
Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese all practice Chinese Confucianism and used Chinese characters, thus their festival, cultural were mostly Chinese originated but assimilated with some local practice.

But Pakistanis are not same as the Indians.

We have different religion and culture than Indians.

ya mean chinese new year rather than cia media luna(tic)r new year.

.
China has the biggest celebration.
Then Vietnam.
Then S. Korea.
Japan has the smallest (literally called Little New Year).

EDIT: Though I don't know how big is Lunar New Year in N. Korea.

North Korea also celebrates Lunar new year, officially 3 days off for Lunar new year.
