It's bound to happen in wartime,hence being called war.US always tried to keep civilian casualties to a minimum,unfortunately it s not always possible to avoid them.

Under Trump not so much. These "accidents" happened with Obama too but it seems that Trump has decided to escalate this random bombing campaign. I am curious to see how this will be reported by mainstream media. I have seen it only in Rudaw till now. I also believe RT will cover this extensively. For other media i am not so sure

What war time? There is no war in USA. USA has imposed war on other countries. And secondly millions of civilians are killed so far in Afghanistan and Iraq and other countries by Americans in a decade.

This is the problem with air dropped munitions, the munitions are too powerful and often times not useful besides causing infrastructure damage and killing civilians. Drone strikes would be better put into use, as they can make sure there is a target in the first place and cause minimal damage to civilians. 2,000 pound bombs being dropped in multiples, however, is obviously going to kill many people not in the vicinity or in it. Troops should be used and there should less aerial use.

Every sane and humane person agrees with this. There are trolls who get off on this stuff, and they shouldn't be given attention. War strategy has to change in anti-militant warfare, especially since most of these strikes are not emergencies. It's just trying to present some form of progress in the fight against ISIS. Which the Iraqi forces are doing better job of by not resorting to heavy aerial attacks.

On ground intelligence is usually if not most of the time far from accurate. Heavier munitions also cause much more damage than expected in urban areas with homes side to side each other. At this point ISIS is losing territory quickly, they are small in number and the troops on the ground can deal with them. Of course some of them are in buildings during combat, and so do all professional troops, US included. Israeli forces occupy civilian homes during ground invasions in Gaza. No one is going to do combat in the open unless they're reinforced with armor. Palestinian militants counter that by firing rocket propelled grenades at the windows of those homes or booby trap them once they know it is completely empty from any civilians.

When relying on airstrikes, they may target the wrong home or the force will cause nearby homes to collapse and kill civilians. In this case , however, you appear to be correct it was intelligence error. That is due to relying on informants or others on the ground who don't care for the lives of ppl in that town, and will not verify anything and are in general careless.

They cannot, Kurds occupy the north, and ISIS occupies the West. So if you used your common sense, you would know that Iraq itself is evacuating who it can. That only occurs after a town is liberated. Prior there is no escape.

Mistakes do happen in war, unfortunately this one is major, 240 people, it's a massive number.

It's unknown who on the ground coordinated this airstrike with the pilot, whether ISF or US forces on the ground. It's better to stick to AH-64 Apaches and drones for the heavily populated city center of West Mosul as their ordnance is lighter and won't cause as much damage. Dropping 500lb bombs is too risky.

so what where you expecting atleast a hundred to die then maybe you might shed a drop of tear , because one or two people dying is still ok right , itna toh chalta hai , by the way no terrorist leaves home to carry out a tiny terrorist attack (made me remember russell peters low esteem terrorist haha) , if the damage is not huge then i think you must thank the alert security forces at the parliament who thwarted this attack...RIP to the dead

MOSUL, Iraq — At least 200 people have been killed in air strikes in the Mosul al-Jadida neighborhood of Mosul, most of them believed to be civilians.



Rudaw correspondent in Mosul Hevidar Ahmed said that 130 of the people were killed inside one house alone.



Around 100 others were hit inside another.



ISIS militants could be among the dead.



“Some of the dead were taking shelter inside the homes,” said the correspondent.



The advance of the Iraqi army has come to halt in the neighborhood due to the bombing.



Military officials told Rudaw that ISIS militants are deeply entrenched inside civilian homes.



The UN’s humanitarian coordinator for Iraq, Lise Grande, told reporters last week that civilians are at risk whether they choose to flee the city or remain in their homes.



Those who choose to stay face extreme risks from crossfire, snipers, and explosive hazards; while families who choose to leave are equally at risk: families get separated, ISIS targets them, and there is a risk of explosive hazards.

Also about 50 people died the past few days from IS rocket/mortar attacks in Mosul, that you do not report. You're always bashing the ISF side which is working hard to rescue these people. As for the US, this is not intentional, they've been helpful, this mistake is unfortunate but cannot be reversed, we don't know the details. We can also easily say that airpower usage should've been more limited, but doing so all throughout the Mosul campaign would also mean far slower progress and more ISF casualties. These things cannot be predicted, it happens in war which will never be something that occurs without faults as it happens in a chaotic environment.
