What's new

240 civilians murdered in Mosul....

so what where you expecting atleast a hundred to die then maybe you might shed a drop of tear , because one or two people dying is still ok right , itna toh chalta hai , by the way no terrorist leaves home to carry out a tiny terrorist attack (made me remember russell peters low esteem terrorist haha) , if the damage is not huge then i think you must thank the alert security forces at the parliament who thwarted this attack...RIP to the dead
My point was why we call it collateral damage when a country bombed innocent ? Why not an act of terrorism? Adhey ganjey ..

.
It's bound to happen in wartime, hence being called war.US always tried to keep civilian casualties to a minimum, unfortunately it s not always possible to avoid them.
RIP to the innocents caught in this without their fault.

It's "bound to happen" when crimes against humanity are committed by the champions of human rights!

I will advise all Iraqis near the war zone to escape to another country, preferably Turkey and Europe.
War is hell, so don't live near hell.

Pakistan should say the same thing when they bomb the TTP terrorists in Afghanistan or if they ever bomb the RAW terrorists in india.

then these bombings should be investigated by other muslim countries and if you find some concrete evidence then you must keep it in front of international media and UN for the people to decide , how many governments of muslim countries themselves have come forward and extended support ? ...and please don't call me ganjey

The world will not change just because You are, mocking real terrorist victims, like You did with your reported comment on "tiny" terrorist attacks @waz.

International Law is all about knowledge and intentions.

If a party has information that a target has a military value, it may be attacked.
Presence of civilians does not generally protect a target against an attack,
but a judgement whether civilian casualties are proportional to the military value of an attack.

As an example, if a sports arena is filled with 50,000 spectators, a single sniper hidden
amongst the spectators, it would not be proportional to carpet bomb the sports arena,
killing most of the spectators.
If it is known that there is a group of terrorists which are preparing a missile for a nuclear strike
on a city of millions, leveling the sports arena is legal.

If it is known that a target has no military value and it is attacked, then there is a war crime.
If it is believed that a target has a military value, but the information is wrong,
and civilians are killed, then it is a mistake, and not a war crime.
If it is known that a target has military value, and expected number of civilian casualties
are reasonable compared to the value of the military target, then the civilian casualties
are "collateral damage"

Combatants of a state that has signed the Geneva Convention does not commit
"Terrorist Acts" in a war. They either commit war crimes, or don't.

In war, the number of civilians killed is not enough information to determine
if a war crime as been committed.

Good luck with winning the hearts and minds of these people.
What do you think US has been trying to do since 2001?

I said it in another topic here as well, gloves are off now. Obama tip toed his way in this conflict, Trump is going to ram it through.

You can definitely do that in Afghanistan but doing the same in India without credible proof will be counter productive.

Mistakes do happen in war, unfortunately this one is major, 240 people, it's a massive number.

It's unknown who on the ground coordinated this airstrike with the pilot, whether ISF or US forces on the ground. It's better to stick to AH-64 Apaches and drones for the heavily populated city center of West Mosul as their ordnance is lighter and won't cause as much damage. Dropping 500lb bombs is too risky.
USA killed 240 of your people and you don't say anything. Your seriously a joke.

Yet we didn't kill 1 iraqi and you curse us day and night. What worthless people.

.
Also about 50 people died the past few days from IS rocket/mortar attacks in Mosul, that you do not report. You're always bashing the ISF side which is working hard to rescue these people. As for the US, this is not intentional, they've been helpful, this mistake is unfortunate but cannot be reversed, we don't know the details. We can also easily say that airpower usage should've been more limited, but doing so all throughout the Mosul campaign would also mean far slower progress and more ISF casualties. These things cannot be predicted, it happens in war which will never be something that occurs without faults as it happens in a chaotic environment.
Sure the US is helpful. They love the iraqi people, they are mesmerised by them so their spending millions because they love you.

Clear example of Stockholm syndrome.

Scores feared dead in ruined Mosul building hit by coalition airstrike – witnesses (VIDEO)
Despite losing hundreds of soldiers every day to fierce battles with jihadists, the Iraqi Army continues the strenuous effort to liberate western Mosul, wiping out militants with an intensive air campaign as well as in clashes on the battlefield.

“We were ready and our moral was high. We destroyed ISIS here. We have liberated 70 to 80 percent of Mosul,” an Iraqi Army soldier told RT.

The bombing raids, which often do not distinguish between civilian and military targets, have resulted in heavy casualties, far exceeding the military losses. Luring warplanes to residential buildings so they will target the innocent has become a standard tactic of the jihadists.

“ISIS made us keep our door open, so they could get onto the roofs at any time. They even broke down the walls between houses so they could move around,” a local resident told RT.

“I don’t know why they were climbing onto our rooftops, whether it was to fight or to provoke airstrikes,” another witness said.

The suffering of civilians who have to endure the side-effects of the offensive on a daily basis has been immense.

“There was so much bombing, and so many deaths. Pieces of human flesh were flying in all directions. Add to that constant hunger and thirst,” an elderly woman told Gazdiev.

UN: At least 400,000 civilians trapped in Mosul with no food or electricity
Children, the most vulnerable victims of the endless fighting, have been severely affected, both physically and mentally.

“There were so many killed in the airstrikes, rockets, and mortars… Our entire neighborhood is in ruins. There are maybe ten houses still standing. The children are traumatized. When the jets start flying, they start crying,” another woman said.

“It’s terrible. The kids can’t eat properly, they can’t drink properly. They’re devastated by what they’ve been through,” a middle-aged survivor told RT.

Many children have become orphans, losing their parents to war, and have to take care of their younger siblings.

Following the Iraqi military through an almost completely demolished residential neighborhood, RT’s crew filmed what was left from a building, now reduced to a pile of rubble, mixed with rotting corpses of dead ISIS militants.

Coalition air strikes are effective in killing jihadists – but they are just as deadly for civilians.
