As usual manipulating data, to somehow show that Pakistan is doing better. I don't know what you get out of it:undecided:

========================================================================

Ok first lest focus at the figure of INR 54527, thats per capita income (factor cost at current prices).

I hope you know that its not the same as Gross National Income in dollar terms which is what you are comparing it with!

Please note the highlighted part.
========================================================================

Here is the Gross National Income in dollar terms from 2010 for both countries,

GNI per capita, Atlas method (current US$) | Data | Table

Please note the 2010 figure for Pakistan, is close to the figure for 2010 in Pakistan's Annual Economic Survey.

Now lets hear your arguments:coffee:

I have no need to argue with what is clearly reported as nominal per capita income by the two governments, and it is as follows:

Economic Survey of India 2011: INR 54527 (US $1217)

Economic Survey of Pakistan 2011: US $ 1254

It's unambiguous.

Go check out the following:

http://indiabudget.nic.in/es2010-11/echap-01.pdf

INR 54527 (US $1217) is India's per capita income clearly shown on page 2 of Economic Survey of India 2011.

http://www.infopak.gov.pk/EconomicSurvey/Highlights.pdf

US $ 1254 is the per capita income Pakistan on page 3 of Economic Survey of Pakistan 2011.

Can we focus on our country, India has a bigger population thus they have bigger problems. We on the other hand have a smaller population compared to India, so access to hygiene will be higher and poverty will obviously be lower compared to India. We can be proud all we want but if you think about it, if we are a smaller country therefore it should be easier for us to eradicate poverty, poor hygiene, etc. yet we still havn't solved these kinds of issues, we still have polio in our country for gods sake! STOP comparing Pakistan with India were gaining nothing from it!

Feel free to focus on your country. I have no problem with that.

All I am doing is benchmarking Pakistan's progress, or the lack of it, relative to its South Asian neighbors as most reports from WB, ADB and UN agencies do.

Haha! I read all of it, Thats where the figures are from.

The only ambiguity is that the figure of INR 54527 is not GNI per capita in current US $, which is what you are comparing it to (Pakistan's US $1254).

GNI per capita (US$, 2010): India $1340> Pakistan $ 1050

You got busted once again, by me, no need to get all worked up now . :enjoy:

You too mate.. stop the obsession on India in ur sick blog.

Focus on ur own country rather than stay like parasite and putting India's datas as it, to get traffic from morons who loves India bashing even if own house is on fire.

Nonsense!

The figures I have reported are exactly as they are in the Economic Surveys of India and Pakistan 2011, not 2010. They are as obvious as daylight.

Thread Title is :- 2011 Update on Pakistan's Economy, Education, Poverty, Hunger and Hygie

Then why the hell there is need to compare and bring India into this ?? Whats this f**king obsession ?? This thread is about pakistan's economy !! Then why bring India and compare, when there is no comparison at all!! wtf!

Get over from your paranoia!!

No he can't!! He want morons to follow his Rant blog and make them live in delusional self-satisfactory world!

Epic!! LOL

Yes I know obvious as daylight!

Thats why I highlighted the factor cost at current price bit. That there is your key word.

I agree with you, but can you tell me, where exactly is the GNI per capita ($) mentioned in the Economic Survey of India 2011 report, & how much is it?

Its not mentioned. Different countries use different methods for reporting their national income. Pretty interesting slides here.

If it's not mentioned in the Economic Survey report, how did the World Bank come up with a GNI per capita of $1340 for India in 2010? Appreciate it.

They use atlas method to calculate it.

GNI per capita, Atlas method (current US$) | Data | Table

GNI per capita (formerly GNP per capita) is the gross national income, converted to U.S. dollars using the World Bank Atlas method, divided by the midyear population. GNI is the sum of value added by all resident producers plus any product taxes (less subsidies) not included in the valuation of output plus net receipts of primary income (compensation of employees and property income) from abroad. GNI, calculated in national currency, is usually converted to U.S. dollars at official exchange rates for comparisons across economies, although an alternative rate is used when the official exchange rate is judged to diverge by an exceptionally large margin from the rate actually applied in international transactions. To smooth fluctuations in prices and exchange rates, a special Atlas method of conversion is used by the World Bank. This applies a conversion factor that averages the exchange rate for a given year and the two preceding years, adjusted for differences in rates of inflation between the country, and through 2000, the G-5 countries (France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States). From 2001, these countries include the Euro area, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Well, I'm pretty sure that India's GNI per capita is greater than $1340 for 2011, & wouldn't fall down to $1217 obviously. It's not great, & there are a few socioeconomic indicators, as Riaz sahab pointed out, where Pakistan does better than India, but not great either. We need to get out of this petty mudslinging, & realize that both countries need to make rapid improvements. However, what I do not like is the attitude of quite a few Indians who think Pakistan is nothing like them (i.e. a failed state) whereas they are on the verge of becoming a superpower, when in reality, both countries have similar socioeconomic conditions, which aren't flattering to say the least.

Never did any mudslinging mate. If Pakistan is doing well, then good on Pakistan, I ll honestly be happy for you guys.

But unnecessary comparison with India, that too with manipulated data, is counterproductive and misleading.

Likewise, I think most people fail to realize the difference between real GDP (GDP at constant prices at a specific base year), GDP nominal (real GDP + inflation), & GDP PPP.

Real GDP is a good indicator of growth in the domestic economy compared with prices of a base year, but it becomes meaningless for international comparison between different countries due to difference in cost of living and fluctuating exchange rates. GDP on PPP basis are close to the real GDP growth rates since it adjusts for prices and exchange rates.

Aside from looking at the GDP, I think we can safely say that Pakistan does better than India in terms of poverty levels, access to sanitation, unemployment levels %, income inequality & plenty of other indicators. There is plenty of verified World Bank, UN, CIA World Factbook data for verifying these as well. India does better than Pakistan in many other things as well. Just because Pakistan is doing better than India in a few things does not necessarily mean Pakistan is doing good. In fact, Pakistan still fares poorly in things it does better than India in, so it's nothing to be proud of.
